One more thing, you said the game is fairly challenging, what difficulty setting are you playing on?

Hahaha. Playstation owners are gearing up for yet another botched Bethesda effort on their consoles, and for once the Xbox owners can say 'buddy, let me tell you about problems'.

And a 970 can't keep 60 fps on Ultra at what I'm guessing is 1080p? What did they do in the last couple months of production?
I'm fully expecting that there is some messed up issue with PS4 version that only becomes evident after longer playtime, but just like with PS3 port of Skyrim that didn't prevent Sony focused sites to give it a perfect score.

Just like Bethesda. They saw the companion system in New Vegas but didn't understand it. So now all you have to do is wander around making your companions happy by following their alignment, rather than them having an interesting backstory that unfolds as you travel with them. Imitating without understanding might as well be Bethesda's mission statement at this point.

It's amusing to see them get credit for something i assume was born out of laziness and the usual 'you can join all factions'. Each relationship exists in a vacuum just like factions appear to.

Oh no there's already plenty of reports about random slowdowns and stutters and whatnot on PS4, have been for about two days. Only time will tell if that version becomes an unplayable mess like previous efforts.

Is that fatso really gushing over the fact that fallout4 companions are too stupid to realize that youre having multiple affairs infront of their eyes and somehow deluding himself into the assumption that this was intentional and not based on the fucking laziness bethesda implents social interaction with?

That PC World review is the best I've seen so far. Written by a guy who calls himself a "Zork enthusiast". :salute:

Pretty solid review.

This looks like a death sentence for an open world game:

Fallout 4 is actually much closer to Oblivion with guns—a vast map, littered with icons, each ostensibly representing a place for players to delve into. But only maybe half of the locales in Fallout 4 actually feel useful or special or have some sort of interesting facet to them. The rest are repetitive combat arenas and glorified post-apocalyptic spelunking.

It makes exploration feel somewhat like a chore.

Even the many, many minor bugs – people raining from the sky, farm animals mysteriously stranded on rooftops, NPCs with chairs sticking through their midriffs, enemies I could pickpocket a supposedly rare and precious resource from infinitely, disappearing companions, allies who’d futilely attempt to sprint through solid surfaces, and so many entities getting caught on scenery so frequently that you’d swear the nuclear bombs had mutated the entire world into Velcro – didn’t bother me. I guess partially I’m now so familiar with those sorts of glitches in Bethesda games that I’m almost fond of them, but partially they’re simply far less depressing when the overall presentation is so powerfully improved.

Ars Technica also has a sidebar comparing performance between the three platform, and the title PC Master Race should tell you how it turned out.

PC Master Race
Though my primary playthrough took place on a PlayStation 4 (since I received that version first), I also spent a few hours putting the Windows version through its paces on an i7-4770K machine with a GeForce GTX 760. In short, I regretted not getting the PC version first. Both games stumbled on rare occasions due to glitches, but I was able to run the Windows version on a mix of "medium" and "high" settings across the board—apparently crisper than my PS4 version—and enjoy a nearly solid 60 frames-per-second refresh.

The PS4 version, on the other hand, struggled to maintain a smooth 30 FPS refresh, often chugging in sequences that didn't appear to have any particularly strenuous content. The PlayStation 4 version was playable enough, but should your PC be up to it, that's my vote. (I also preferred playing with a gamepad, mostly because the game was clearly built with gamepads in mind.)

So for those who have a 760, good news!

I would be really surprised if Sterling isn't bashing the game in this video. Can't see it though ("working")

Most of what I saw about FO 4 is putting me off, shitty textures, crappy dialogue, idiotic characters, legions of bugs, etc but this was quite interesting:

At around 56:51 that damn robot adressed that players character by "Miss Ziggy" instead of a generic "you/etc". Wonder if that happens more often throughout the game. It's something I sorely miss in fully voiced games that other characters are able to adress you by your real name actually.

Going through these reviews, New Vegas doesn't seem to get brought up as a point of comparison much. There's nonstop favourable comparisons to Fo3 but NV is weirdly absent in most of these. Wonder why.

What I'm interested in is the actual numbers of people who dislike the game, are critical of it, compared to the number of mewling idiots. There still isn't a (serious) bad review of Fallout 3 floating around youtube. I want to see how many dislikes a serious "critique" of that turd would get... Fuck it. FUCK IT. :rage:

The PC UI can't be this bad.

I've just come out of an hour and a half with this game. What a trainwreck of a UI on the PC. It's the same as consoles. The scroll wheel does nothing in the pip-boy. You can press M and J to get to maps/quests, but you can't press those buttons to exit the PB from those screens. Sneaking is now press-release-sneak instead of press-sneak. Power attack is on the bash key instead of a held left mouse key. Right-clicking no longer exits terminals. How do you get to the next page on a terminal? Great question. Mouse acceleration out the wazoo. Speaking of the mouse, why is X sensitivity dramatically higher than Y? The list goes on... The game itself is fun enough, but how are PC users supposed to play the game with a UI that hardly functions? Come on. I can't be the only one saying this.

Edited to add: Favorites also kills your movement (using WASD to navigate the menu) without pausing. It's on the F key. Guess how I learned that one...
