I expect Fallout 4 to be more retarded than Fallout 3.
Seems impossible. FO3 was so bland and monotonous that I barely remember playing it at all.

I can recall the initial growing-up-in-the-Vault sequence because it was nicely done, VATS cutscenes because they were so freaking annoying, thinking about how Tulip romance mod would be great because it would at least break the boredom and Tranquility Lane because it turned out to be yet another overhyped disappointment.

And that's about it.

Seems impossible, but you ignore the power of Todd the Tard.

I try not to remember anymore.

I only played F3 until I got to first town. The growing up sequence was one of the best things I played in a cRPG. Unfortunately it only made the outside of the Vault worse.

I remember quitting F3 5 minutes after getting out of the tutorial vault. This happened 4 times. Never bothered giving the game another chance, especially not after FNV was released.

The only reason whereby the existence of Fallout 3 isn't a complete waste is the existence of New Vegas. I played it a bit, about 10-15 hours. But this just because I'm kinda addicted to 'hicking simulators'. But the game is just too horrible - I will never (ever!) understand how FO3 could win an award for its writing. Holy shit.

Plenty of people on leddit say that they felt Fallout 3 story was better because they felt more engaged in it. I guess it just comes down to missing your dad is more relateable than solving a crisis about a conflict of ideologies fighting for power.

Fallout 3 is certainly more "cinematic", it has a story where the "good" and the "bad" guys are already defined. New Vegas is a GOOD RPG game, you get to decide who's the good guy. And you can procede to dismember the saintly motherfucker. In Fallout 3 you can be a neurotic jerk but you still have to do what Beth wanted you to do.

Many people think FO3 has a better "post apocalyptic atmosphere" than New Vegas. They also say New Vegas has too many invisible walls. That says a lot of them, isn't it?

Fo3 has way better scenery than F:NV.
I'm no New Vegas fan boy but that's a load of shit. Not surprising coming from an animu phag in Russia. First people Putin should send to the reeducation camps.
I don't need to hide the lack of taste behind a rabid fanboyism, like you. So, if I like some detail in an otherwise shitty game, I just say so.

F:NV architecture is too generic, with very few exceptions (such as Helios One). FO3 consist mostly of Washington, and Washington looks great, especially after nuking.

Fo3's art direction is actually fairly strong, it's one of the better points of the game. I think this was talked about in a thread ages ago - maybe in this thread, actually. The 50s retro-futurism vibe is caught perfectly, the DC areas are occasionally successful in conveying the feeling of being trapped in an oppressive decaying urban environment. The surrounding wasteland is much more half-assed, but I think the DC areas are legitimately good, visually.

NV's art direction wins out in the end because it feels more like a world that could actually exist (as opposed to Fo3 feeling like you're walking through some cool-looking concept art), but I can see why people say they prefer the look of Fo3. Also, just as a clarification/disclaimer thing - Fo3's aesthetic doesn't feel like a Fallout game. As in, like the rest of the game, it doesn't feel true to Fo1/Fo2. So I'm defending the art direction based on how successful I feel it is on it's own, outside the context of the Fallout series.

... what Beth wanted you to do.

Beth I hear you calling,
But I can't find daddy right now,
Me and Sawyer are playing,
And we just can't find our fun

Just a few more hours, Beth
And I ll come back home to you
You know I love Moira Brown
But Beth what can I do?
