Stupid jokes aside, I looked through all of the screenshots on the site and it looks like objects don't cast shadows. Again. Next-gen graphics.
I wonder if it's because modern computers are still not powerful enough.

Some of my favorite player responses are simply "[Say Nothing]", and playing the silent type.
This is the explanation they give for the Dialogue in oblibion. They call it doing things the Todd way it's awesome and I don't think I ever want it to change

Computers are, consoles aren't.

But seriously, next-gen shooter-like game with no vehicles, weather, shadows? But with crappy graphics. Whats the plan behind this? Morons wont care as long someone actually confirms its next-gen, like mainstream media?

The graphics aren't bad, they just offer no stylistic change from any other Dx9-10 graphics we've seen. Play any random shooter and you will hardly be able to tell a difference.

Who cares about the graphics though? This isn't a graphics simulation. It's an RPG that has been converted into a first person shooter. I'm willing to bet that Deus Ex will still be considered the superior FPS/RPG hybrid after this one releases. Bethesda is just a coward that misleads people into believing that innovation is simplification and reductionism.

"Instead of creating a better system, we combined traits and perks because they were so similar."

This is the epitome of why Bethsoft's games suck balls. Reductionism, simplification, and utter retardation. I hope this one flops.

After the 3rd question I just felt an emptiness in my heart, and had to stop reading....

They are making it for xbox360 as well. They had to cut the graphics stuff so the game could show playable framerates on this old piece of junk.

I can see the reviews saying "What the game lacks in graphics it makes up for in its incredible depth of gameplay" or something like that.

I think the target audience does. Which is probably why there's no gameplay trailers, even thought everything is supposedly finished by now.
Of course most of that audience will still think it looks stunning, just like it was the case with Oblivion.

I heard that playing it makes you hardcore as it has dated graphics.
That's what hardcore gamers do, right?

I noticed that. The graphics look fine...but they aren't top of the line.

I used to think that hype + graphics sells game. But now I think you just need hype.

Yes. You hear people saying things about how "stunning" it was when first walking out of the dungeon in Oblivion.

But I was extremely disappointed by the graphical quality when I stepped outside the dungeon. The whole "draw distance" thing. It looked shitty, unless you were in a more dense part of the woods, where you couldn't see that far in front of you.

What's it say about the current state of gaming when a hype item is whether you nuke a town or not? Or who is voice acting a character?

Bethesda is trying to draw in the Bros from the frat houses and appeal to nerds at the same time with extremely shallow elements, and they're succeeding.

"Woah brah this game is like, all deep and political and stuff brah, you can nuke a town or....get this...not. It's blowing my fuckin mind bro!"

"OH MAN LIAM FROM SW IS VOICING? OH SHIT WOAH GOD DAMN LET'S MENTION IT 30X MORE BECAUSE IT HAS SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ON WHETHER THE GAME IS GOOD OR NOT!!"

Really, hyping a VA just seems so damn stupid to me. Especially since he hasn't had any previous credentials saying he's going to be a good VA. Why is it such a big deal to people?

Rest assured. While the graphics may not be as spiffily hyped as Oblivion's, most gamers won't be able to run it at the medium, aka playable, settings. Most of the complaints (such as: "HALP! why wont FO run???") will be because the video/sound/system will fail because the game refuses to acknowledge cheap, rubbish technology. It's only money.

Games have been hyped for voice actors since like forever, Bethesda isn't the first here.
Gabriel Knight 1 was hyped for having Tim Curry as Gabriel's voice and it had nothing to do with game turning out to be good and mature. Wing Commander 4 had Luke Skywalker and it too was a good game. Same thing with Privateer 2 featuring Clive Owen and Christopher Walken (damn, these game DID have production values).

What's wrong is simplifying games to reach broader audience - and due to pitiful state of humanity, broader equals dumber. It happened to movies, music, happens to games. Fallout with quest compass? Fuck...

As for that megaton bar screenshot - I actually like it a lot, it does have fallouty feel. Textures have fugly resolution due to console's low memory, but according to CD Action preview PC version looks way better even with medium settings. I'm not worried about lack of Fallout atmosphere - this Bethesda can do well. The other thing is quality of writing, dialogues (which are hyped to be deeper than in Fallout 1), characters, story and overall simplification of mechanics.

Considering that in originals pip-boy wasn't storing even clues, but just a one line description of what you have to do.
Well actually there was a button "Clues" in FO2. But I like how it was nicely damaged and torn off.
