Just realized I got some spare money left after paying tuition fee for daughter, so this game is on my radar now :positive: How's optimization? Would a R7 260X be enough to run it on at least medium setting?

I'm playing with a 260X, it's mostly 40+ fps with some tweaking, I have no trouble playing.

So i figured out why jax look so weak: he need to assume elex.

surprised eh? yes it's litterally what he told himself in the first minute of the game: and he REALLY NEED ELEX.

it's not only the classical story trick of any PB game for a weak early game character, it's also a balance mechanic.

In elex you should start since the begin of the game the hunt for perma stat elex potion.

follow the fist escort, you can find a small elex potion + 100 xp no side effect, make sense jax is an alb!

and apparently jax is a super-alb he can drink elex with no issue at all.
Can you explain where to find the recipe for permastun elex and what stats/skills do you need in order to craft it. Thanks.
I really want to start as int/cun char with crafting/thieving/misc skills and those potions seems like a good way to make up for loss in combat effectiveness.
i am only at the berserk city and alrik have some stuff at least for the base potion.

basically you need the recipe and alchemy 1/1

alrik also train alchemy? not sure maybe is another trainer easy to find

for alchemy you need 30/30 cunning(?)/int not instane stat requiment.

permastat potion recipe? umm i can't remember (i'm not at pc) or alrik have it or i looted it somewhere in some building or stealed in some house

try to steal any "elex" item sometime is 1x elex but can also be 1x raw(?) elex the craft component that give frost resistance/used by alb.

Regarding Strenght impact, could it be that it's tied to a melee skill - like in Gothic 2, in fact? There it was a weapon prerequisite as well BUT your weapon skill was basically your chance to Crit - and ADD your Strenght to weapon damage.

Don't have the game yet, but already look forward to exploring Elex. Although I did want to finish Underrail first. Aargh.

Many merchants sell the recipe, possibly Alrik, definitely the alb separatist leader in dome city and the separatist merchant in the Edessa Collector.

To make the +2 attribute points Elex Potion, you need 4 raw Elex (shows up as just Elex when you pick it up) and 2 liquor (or 2 small Elex potions—the ones that give 100 exp—and 2 raw Elex). One rank required in chemistry. To make the Large Elex potion (+1 skill point) you need two regular Elex potions and 2 raw Elex.

Raw Elex costs 100 each from a vendor, liquor is 25, so you’re basically paying 225 elexit per attribute point, which is why I prefer to scavenge the raw stuff.

So disappointing.
You mean effectiveness or fun?

Fun. There's no kick, no satisfaction, no interesting mechanics (save special ammunition). Haven't played with lasers yet though so Alienman might have a point there. But even with that, the melee system has a range of combos, the stamina system and all the moves of you and your foe have been designed around that mode, giving you lots of stuff to play off of.

Yeah, I mean it isn't much more than just shooting since you don't have any combos or anything, but the plasma explosive bolt is really fun. Especially if you have group of enemies coming after you. Just send them flying!
What is also cool also with guns is that you can shoot while flying. So you can dish out plasma bolts of doom while hovering over their heads :)

My main stat is melee though. I always fall back on that. So I'm not sure how viable a 100% range character would be, but I'm not sure PB wants you to play as that considering how the combat is designed, stats and so on.

How long do you have to stick with the berserkers until you get in proper contact with the outlaws if you try to play linearly and not bee-line?

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
If I could make only one recommendation to people starting Elex it would be this: make a melee character. Not for power reasons, but for fun. Bows are meh and guns are horrible. So disappointing.

Bows and magic have always been dreary in PB games, just mindless pew-pewing from a distance. Difference is they were also very powerful. So in Elex PB managed to make them dreary AND useless? Ouch.

Anyone figured out how to turn off this fucking darkness/bloom shit when entering and leaving buildings?

I tried dicking around with the config.xmls, and dunno if that's possible at all for the time being. In "ConfigDefaultNew.xml" there's an ImageEffect="HDRI" line that I suspect is responsible for this shit, but the game itself automatically reverts any changes to it once you launch.

Also, I think that ultimately the REAL reason for why this is in place is to make indoors brighter while saving up on light sources. If you enter any building then turn around to face the door, you'll notice that the game just gradually brightens up without anything else happening to the graphics or the environment. So in other words, turning the effect off would probably permanently turn all indoor areas into as dark as they are when you first enter them :/

Seems like Magic is actually pretty interesting from what I've seen so far.

Also they're not useless (bows and guns), just boring.

I took a good look at the game config files and couldn't find anything obvious.

Hopefully they tone it down a bit with patches.

Edit: Sounds like Darth Roxor had a little more success, but couldn't get it to save changes.
