Account requirement removed back in October. They just never bothered to update the store page to mention that because they're stupid and hate sales or something.
The game does notably have worse netcode than 4.1 and 5 did though. Lots of instances of people teleporting around, lots of instances of people getting teamkilled by explosions because it's impossible to tell where other people actually are. On your screen they're in a safe spot, but on their screen you just shot them with a rocket launcher. Not sure if that's related to Epic or not.
