Actually paladin dips got nerfed. now divine grace gives a max bonus of paladin levels x3, so a 2 level paladin dip is only a +6. Not worth it for anyone.
Bards are a popular dip for swashbuckler, fighters for feats and kensai, monks for evasion and unarmed AC and other goodies, rogues for evasion and trapping, and also for acrobat tree i think.
As far as i know pure druids and monks are kinda at the bottom of the totem pole atm. And i would really advice a pure class on your first life, because you get a free respec at level 1, but the respecs doesnt allow for class reselection, you have to stick with what you picked there, and because at least you are guaranteed that it will take you to 20.

This is cool. So you guys who are just starting out, if you don't want to do the beginner isle stuff (which is very boring) and prefer to jump straight to the city where we can all group up, head into the little village on the island that you start on (Korthos) and talk to the elf at the dock. He can transport you to Stormreach right away.
However, the n00b stuff is a good way to get used to the game and gain a level or two. It's up to you.
