That edgy reply will surely get you a lot of brofist ;-).
But that is totally coincidental and totally not your actual intention.

I guess to understand the way in which burden of proof does work does make one edgy when dealing with morons.

Okay.

A Longer Journey ($1,000,000)

which we'll talk more about in the next few days. But we've already revealed that this tier brings back Abnaxus of the Venar. Abnaxus was an important part of The Longest Journey, but his role was unfortunately excised from Dreamfall, so we're very excited for the opportunity to tell his story again, and to revisit this strange, magical species that lives outside of time.

The Manggoy

qKggTqf.jpg

In their own, beautifully melodic language, they are the Oular -- children of the purple mountains -- but in Alltongue they are Manggoy, ape-people, strange and dangerous denizens of the northern mountains.

Contemptuously called 'makak' by those who would reduce them to mere animals, particularly the militant anti-magical Azadi, the Oular are reclusive and mysterious, and there are not many of them left.

So...

I haven't played any of TLJs yet, nor have I followed the KS campaign in question, just fav'ed it and skimmed through the main page.

What I want to know is, what evidences are there that the game will suck?

Some will say that being a 3D game means that it will suck. That is retarded of course. Also, their previous game was also 3D, and had some bad gameplay elements (fighting, stealth). I say that Ragnar and Co. probably learnt from their mistakes and will deliver this time. They nailed the story in their previous games, so I'm not afraid that they will screw that up.

Backing seemed to have slowed down considerably, I think they will at most reach 1.5 million.

Someone already said this, but - seriously - we got some major uncanny valley going here. This is why I prefer to play (and make) 2D point and click games. Bad 3D makes me feel like I'm playing with a bad simulator that wants to trick me into thinking it's real life - when it's just a poor, poor sim... instead of a game... urgh. Just my personal feelings, though. Some people, obviously, dig it!

Why does Zoe look like an uncanny plastic doll with glossy bug eyes? And why does she look different from her Dreamfall incarnation?

That's two different chicks. What the fuck.

Anyway, the game will probably be great story-wise, and horrible from the gameplay perspective, just like its predecessor. Dreamfall wasn't really an adventure video game, so much as an animated visual novel where you get to move the main characters around the world they live in. In addition, story-wise Dreamfall was obviously barely half of a complete game and it was rather irresponsible of the developers to release less than 50% of the story marketed as a complete product.... but the reason they get a pass on this from me, is because they clearly put a lot of effort into writing this game. It's not LOST or the Matrix sequels where the writers themselves don't know where the first half of their story is headed towards - Dreamfall developers clearly had a definite goal, plot progression and conclusion in their minds all along, but were unable to convey their ideas in form of a complete product due to financial constraints. That's acceptable, particularly in the world of modern video games where good writing is the first thing that gets thrown out the window when a game is developed for a console.

Uncanny valley was never an issue for me in any games. I can suspend my disbelief for the most part, and don't bother myself with poor 3D models. I never believe that a character is real, even if it VERY realistic. The important part is what they say, not how they look like. At least for me...

I hope they will reach at least 2 million. They deserve as much.

"Poor Models" is a bad choice of words. I can actually deal better with poor models. Those that approach the uncanny valley - those that looks TOO human, yet have those dead doe eyes.... the ones that strive TOO hard to look "real"... those are the ones that bother me. That model of Zoe above.... it's like staring into... the living dead.

The look of 2D art is still better than 3D, and I too prefer games like Mage's Initiation and your own Quest For Infamy. However, it cannot be argued that 3D has come a long long way, and some 3D games look extremely gorgeous. Furthermore, from a fun+ factor, 3D backgrounds offer benefits 2D backgrounds sadly doesn't:

-Consitent/streaming world. No transitioning between screens. It breaks my immersion when in a QFG like game I transition from one screen to another. Brings out the fakeness if you will, of a sprite moving across a static painting

-Destructible environments. This is important for games with combat.

-Lighting. A simple 'Summon Globe of Light' spell can be wondrous due to lighting effects. Only possible in a 3D engine.

That said, since this game will have no combat AND they have limited funding due to going indie (face it, 1.5 million is nothing. Even doublefine had to look for outside sources of funding after their kickstarter...but that was partly because their kickstarter was really successful, much more so than anyone anticipated especially themselves) they really should have gone 2D.

But what do I know. Maybe 3D will be cheaper for them, and that is possible I think if you already have a ready made engine upon which you can construct 3D models and shit, instead of hiring artists to make tons of 2D screens.

Is your immersion also broken by scene transitions in movies?

It's true; films have edits. Some people want that "immersion" factor; I'm okay with knowing I'm playing a video game. I'm playing a game, not a simulation.

"Europolis"

Her eyes are too high. Her mouth is too high. Her jaw is too square. Her chin is too prominent. Her face is too egg-shaped. Her cheeckbones are too wide. Her hair is retarded given the shape of her head. Her eyebrows are too gross, too short (relative to how gross they are), and way too low.

Not backing this shit.

Oi, her eyebrows are fine. Her facial features are definitely degenerate though, typical xeno mongrel.

I have no problem with the 3D. Even though I prefer 2D pixel art (QfI and MI look amazing).
And I more than welcome a new game in a cyberpunk setting.

I just hope it's good. But reading here that it's more like an interactive story than an adventure game kind of sucks for me :(

Maybe I'll have the chance to try TLJs before the KS ends and make a decision.
