Fuck's sake i wasn't even talking about the game. I was addressing Capcom what is this butthurt fanboyism now?
Capcom has been grafting BS microtransactions onto their games since forever. They were in DD1, in Monster Hunter, in DMC, in the Resident Evil games.

But people decided NOW it's time to draw the line.

But were they as bad as this? I mean two bucks to start a new game? That's some next level shit. It beats horse armor DLC and then some.

Probably inflation making people more sensitive to it.

I hate it in every game it's in, though I don't often notice it since I wait years to buy a lot of games. Shadow of War had just EoS'd the microtransactions when I started playing it, for example.

First time in recent memory that I've bought a game day one that had this sort of egregious MTX.

DD was full of nickel and dime DLC but it was all bundled with Dark Arisen so PC Gamers didn't know it was something to complain about https://dragonsdogma.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Downloadable_Content

You don't have to pay to edit your character, that's just an ignoramus tax for zoomers who don't understand file folders and "disabling cloud saves" https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/dragons-dogma-2-start-new-game-delete-save/

I'm pretty sure doing that will make Denuvo lock your game.

There is no MTX to start a new game, afaik you can just buy a voucher to edit the appearance of your char, which is exactly what Monster Hunter sells too.

The decision to not let you have multiple saves or multiple new games is idiotic but it's got nothing to do with MTX.

Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: Denuvo Anti-tamper
5 different PC within a day machine activation limit

I won't even be touching this until they patch Denuvo out but deleting your save file five times within a single day is excessive and definitely not normal user behavior.

I think this is just a rumor.

It's still gay as shit though, but Roguey will autismo about it if I argue that forcing players to disable cloud saves and swap out files is idiotic for a AAA game.

It's like if I sell you a shirt, but I piss on it first. And then I tell you that I can clean the piss off for $2. And then in comes fanboy faggot to say that the real big brains just wash the shirt themselves.

No, nigger, the real big brains don't buy shirts from crazy, greedy assholes who piss on them.

That's clearly Heretic 3, Raven did it again. Anyway, so how are you guys enjoying another quality Japanese PC port?

I'm glad this is the straw that broke the camel's back because it's always been an annoying and stupid practice by Capcom to sell unnecessary shit as MTX that dulls an otherwise purely positive sentiment I had towards their games (until Enigma DRM). The negative press coverage and sentiment online is completely out of proportion with whatever of a pittance they'd make off them so why fucking risk losing a $70 sale to make $1.99 off someone who doesn't know any better? They're lucky the gameplay is so good because a lot of people are buying the game despite the overwhelmingly negative user reviews.

Sucks for Itsuno and team but this could've been delayed a couple weeks to figure out key performance optimizations (+integrate DLSS/FSR frame generation features) and avoid unnecessary controversy and they would've had a Elden Ring-tier hit on their hands.

Also didn't they stagger the release of unnecessary MTX in Resident Evil 4 Remake by ten days? Long after the :d1p:ers had finished it? At least they're doing it at launch now so they can (justifiably) be criticized for it.

Answer: Yes they did
Resident Evil 4 Remake's release date: March 23rd 2023
bunch of weapon upgrade tickets: April 6th 2023 https://store.steampowered.com/app/2109316/Resident_Evil_4_Weapon_Exclusive_Upgrade_Ticket_x1_A/

From my observations, a lot of Japanese devs aren't big on things like a user friendly user experience. Being able to create separate in-game profiles has been a standard feature for western devs since the 00s but these guys are stuck in their ways.

So technical issues aside, which we've all come to expect from Japs, what about the gameplay aspects? I can see there being way less armour slots than DD1, character model looking like a doughy grandma, ugly running animations asset flipped from Monster Hunter, two-handed swords copying Dark Souls in the worst possible way (slow swinging, resting (hovering) on shoulder...).

Not sure about armor slots but the rest is garbled nonsense. Character model is exactly how you mold it, running animation is fine (don't know if flipped from MH and don't care), two-handed swords are fun as fuck.

Gameplay is grate. The only thing that's shit about this game is the optimization and performance in towns. And camping gear weighing fucking 7 kilos. Everything else is top notch.

Oh and it turns out this is just an impatience tax.

Twitter Bullshit: You have to pay to change your character's appearance in Dragon's Dogma 2

Reality: The first city you visit, 30-60 minutes if you rush, you can buy the item for next to nothing.

Upscaling and frame generation aren't solutions, though. I don't want them. The performance probably can't be improved much. It's the engine.

Looks as if info about the micro transactions was included in a separate “review guide” pdf that reviewers got from Capcom (if you follow Xbox news you'll know that Jez is a prominent commentator). So reviewers either didn't read it (like Jez) or they read it and chose to not mention it in their reviews.

11 hours played so far, lvl 17, and I've barely touched the main questline. I made it to the capital and outside of fucking around in the city a bit, picking up a few sidequests, I've spent the majority of my time living in the wilderness. No game does it better. It can be the dumbest fucking sidequest ever, doesn't matter. Every trek so far has felt like an eternity with intermittent breaks here and there. Imagine Dark Souls but instead of the Bonfires being spaced like a few minutes apart, they're spaced miles apart. And Itsuno wasn't lying about fast travel being scarce as hell. I've only used it twice so far (once by oxcart and once by portcrystal). This is the one thing I wish FromSoft would borrow from DD. Nothing else captures that sense of going on a real fucking journey like DD, and even though I'm only scratching the surface I feel like I've already had as many of those moments in 2 that I did in the entirety of the original. And I still have a fuckload of map to uncover. This is my dream game.

Love how capcom trolls gamers. Completionists have to pay over $100 bucks or sorry honey you do not own the game and your achievements do not matter. Rerollers who grew up on games like WoW loving rerolling their characters have to pay extra to tickle their favorite tick. Gamers without state of the line PCs have to suffer abysmal low frame rates.
