I am really not surprised with this
After all I've been saying for the past 2 years that Itsuno would make DD2 after DMC5, the man had said himself that these were the major projects he really wanted to tackle after DD
The fact that he included V was proof that he had new gameplay ideas floating around his head that neeeded some testing

Even the timing is right
DMC4 came out in 2008/2009 and DD in 2012
Now DMC5 came out in 2019 and DD2 comes in 2022

I am more curious about the significance of those numbers though...

OK managed to find an explanation for the numbers
It goes like this:

> Unit sales in thousands
> Total revenue in million yen
> Total cost in million yen
> Net income in million yen

So for example DD2 numbers for it's launch year:

Unit sales = 3.478 K
Total revenue = 15.084 M
Total cost = 5.523 M
Net income = 5.235 M

Then obviously you can see it by quarter.
For DD2 they plan on selling about 2.038 K units in it's launching quarter (Q2)
That seems to be as an ambitious project as DMC5 was

EDIT:
It's interesting comparing numbers of the different titles.
For example, they expect REmake 4 to sell more in it's lauching quarter (which is the last quarter of that year) than DD2 in it's launching year (which are compromised of 3 equarters)
Even though RE4 will cost significantly less to develop and ship than DD2

REmake 4's launch year numbers:
Unit sales = 3.547 K
Total revenue = 16.051 M
Total cost = 3.411 M
Net income = 8.746 M

I've already stated as much in the Leaks thread over at General Gaming

If you don't count the 2006 PSP port that game is already 21 years old
Even older is Final Fight though. That shit came out in 1989!!!

It seems Capcom is now run by Necromancers and they're hellbent on reviving every single one of their ip's

Every one except Breath of Fire...

:dealwithit:

Maybe it's for the best...

I'd like a better quality view of the Nipponese title of "Rock Man Match". This screenshot is way too low res and blurry to make out the kanji, and it's already shown that machine translation is used by the screenshot taker.

Dragons Dogma Online was amazing while it lasted. Warrior was busted in that game plus some of the exclusive classes like spirit lancer and high scepter were cool as well.

it's happening!

Considering the original launch ETA was Q2/22 AND that was before the kung flu AND big RPGs are always delayed as fuck....yeah this thing isn't coming out before 2023. If we're lucky.

DMC5 director apparently started to work on it when DMC5 released. DMC5 was released 8 march 2019 so at minimum they have 2 years of work already and when it will be releasing 2022 it will be almost 4. Considering how developement is done with multiple projects being designed at the same time it is also entirely possible that pre-production was before DMC5 released.

So all in all they should have solid 4-5 years work on it.

Also there were rumors back when Deep Down vanished that team was changing Deep Down to DD2. So whole thing might be even older than that.
