Well, same for me, but then I have robbed them (opened the chest) and they went "red-cricle" after that, so... ;)

i scrolled my browser to have the first non-sticky thread of GRPGD on the top and counted all the DA threads (didn't even cover the first full page of the subforum) and counted 9 dragon age topics.

I was able to intimidate them into paying me to get into Lothering, which was kinda nice. Been playing with my remade character, dumping everything into combat early-on. I might not be able to do dialog checks like with the bandits, but god damn my dwarf is raping things in combat now. Also found a shit ton more stuff in the wilds outside Ostagar that I missed the first time through.

This isn't RPG Codex, it's RPGChan, har har har.
'coz wall-of-text is so much fun.
So the consensus among the people who played it is that the game is fun?

I just downloaded it to try it out. Here's my impressions.

First off, why do all the objects look really bad? Like they're all low res textures? I have all the settings on very high, especially object detail. The characters look ok, but things like doors look like shit from a decade ago. Also lights don't seem to cast correctly. Comparing it to Risen, this game looks pretty bad. I don't know, maybe some setting is wrong...

I can't say I like the controls. Its like how I felt with NWN2. I always seem to be fighting with the camera. Perhaps it's just me or maybe I need to get a little further in.

I'm playing as a human noble. The dialogue seems really uninteresting, very melodramatic and insincere.. Just very bland, nothing clever. I got that girl Iona to go to bed by saying "maybe we can get more intimate in my room." Not very convincing... The conversation with the brother and his wife... it just didn't convince me at all. And the whole joke of wenches and the little kid asking about them. It was like a perverted Brady Bunch moment. When I told mom about killing the rats I picked the "Nan's head exploded and the dog ate the others" and her only response was "no maybe we can get something good to eat." I don't get it? Why the fuck is my mom joining my party? I must say that's pretty new... not to mention that she is wearing a dog collar and some pretty heavy looking armor.

All the characters appear to have strange costumes on. Crazy pink and red and other shit everywhere. I don't know it all just seems fake. Item icons look like they could be interchangeable with any other fantasy game out today. Nothing seems original.

I guess the combat is allright. I haven't really fought much other then the rats and the rival family. It's seems very safe. I used a shield bash and knocked a guy down, but while he was down I missed him? Anyways, it doesn't seem difficult though I've heard here that it doesn't get difficult until you get past the tutorial.

Speaking of tutorials... how aggressive is this one. Pausing the game and forcing me to click "I" so I can confirm I know how to open an inventory.

The blood is ridiculous. It really makes the game look like a joke when you walk around with blood splattered all over you. I made it so it comes off after battle, but I wish there was an option to turn it off completely. I noticed that bodies turn into piles of bones after awhile? Why? Why not just keep the body there? Kudos on showing a dead kid, but they should have made his head explode or something eXtreme like how Iona died.

Yes yes this is all perhaps nit picking but so far I can't say I'm impressed by this game. I wasn't impressed by the ads either, but since so many here began saying the game was decent I figured I'd give it a try. I'm really trying to continue on, but the game isn't grabbing me. Maybe I should restart as a different class.

All in all I think I'll stick with Risen for now, but I'll keep giving DA a try too.

Tootles!

You'd enjoy it, Marcelo. I'm sure of it.

You know if we weren't such good friends I might think there's a hidden insult somewhere in there, but I trust your opinion I'm looking forward to playing it.

Is there a lesbian romance option? 'cause I always play as a girl and I totally want one.

Leliana and Zevran are bisexual, Allistair and Morrigan are straight.

Been playing a while, thought my PC, being a few years old and bought on a budget still plays it on quite high settings. Combat is great, especially the animations, though the lack of hard-collision detection can be annoying sometimes (e.g. sometimes my tanks can block a doorway, but enemies still can move past occasionally).

I was playing on hard difficulty and was annoyed about how easy it was, until I got into the tower at Ostagar and died for once (funnily enough the boss at the end was a pushover though). Seems to be like this allot, I usually get complacent through a number of easy and/or well-executed battles, but occasionally it is possible reach some real difficult situation that will force you to rethink your battle plan. Especially when I meet those undead Revenants, and when enemy mages actually make use of their AI and meatshields properly.

Can't really comment on the quality of quests until I see some of the effects of my choices. I dunno, it seems like they went for the delayed outcomes from the Witcher but I haven't seen any yet.

It runs like shit on my laptop, but from what I've seen so far it isn't bad. At least the dialog is better than JE and KOTOR so far.

You fundamentally don't understand the concept of differing opinions, do you? Like something is just broken in your brain that somehow blurs the line between fact and opinion.

Granted, it's hardly a rare disease on the Internet, but you and certain others here are truly classic case-studies in this phenomenon.
