Finally reached Ancient. Really happy with myself as this was one of my gaming goals for the year. Feelsfuckinggoodman!
This has been something on my mind since I started playing DotA2 way back when. Earning this medal has been years in the making.

Felt like sharing with you as I no longer keep in touch with my friends with whom I used to play DotA on LAN lobbies. Those were the days.
But the ones ahead are better.

Cheers Dotabros!
We are all gonna make it.

i've got a cool idea for a new hero:
  • lays invis mines that explode for damage when walked over
  • lays invis stasis traps that stun when walked over
  • can leap into an enemy and self-explode for big damage
  • lays more mines that can be manually detonated for big damage
a hero like this would add a lot of strategic depth to the game, allowing a team to zone off parts of the map or reinforce areas etc..
would be a lot of fun, too
hmm

This has got to be the worst TI yet.

* Half the main event wasn't in front of an audience (similar to the last few times).
* Most matches have been very one-sided.
* Liquid vs GG Grand Finals again.
* No in-game stats (when did they stop doing this?).
* No dark horse story.
* Gaimin playing like absolute shit in the Grand Finals (game 2 ongoing as I write this), looks like it's going to be a 3-0.

Pro Dota being a Europe-only affair has made these events increasingly boring.

And things will probably get worse since PGL is taking 100% control over TI and Valve is failing for a while to sustain good dota content and attract new blood. Also the competitive scene is lacking good names that can throw a show: where is the new dendi?

edit: And yeah, I believe Liquid will 3-0 this final

Congrats to Liquid! Completely dismantling Gamin for two series in a row.

A very pleasant final to watch, even tho I was hoping for GG to have something up their sleeve.

For people complaining about a one sided final, only ti 2021,2018 and 2013 had something resembling a actual back and forth. My biggest problem is how the quality of the panel and commentators went down the drain because everybody decent was cancelled in the last 4 years.

I only know about Tobi. Who else has been canceled? I haven’t watched TI since 2016.

I remember LD, who hosted some good tournaments, but Valve changed the format, so I think he stopped hosting tournaments and casting Dota. I also remember James, and I think Gaben hates him, so he is out too.

Is there any where to watch good Dota games? I used to get excited for the TI but now not so much.

Only watched a few games, man old Dota was so much better. With multiple viable strategies and each hero providing something unique instead of everyone shitting out damage at lvl 7 and having no weaknesses. So you jsut pick the best shit group and fight from min 10 to the end.

Just gonna list the major changes regardless of quality:
Demon & Grandgrant were cancelled thanks to allegations.2gd was told to gtfo from Gaben himself.Redeye was accused of violence in some csgo event and cancelled. There are some others, but it's unknown did they just abandon dota or were silently threatened behind the scenes.

Well valve sort of did everything they could to kill TI. This TI had the lowest prize pool since 2013 (which didn't even have contributions from people buying stuff). They said no ads in player tags on official streams. 2 years in a row they make compendiums that no one wants to buy because there are no skins. In 2018 TI liquid placed 4th and they got more money than they did for winning this TI. I have no idea why orgs even bother having dota teams.
There are like 3 teams worth watching, the rest are jobbers such as tundra filled with bad players like ramses and washed ups like topson, only making it to TI because everyone else sucks even harder.

Yeah that was weird. How do you lose to almost identical picks (including firstpick NP) 3 times in a row.

Tundra were one of the more enjoyable teams to watch this TI, as far as I was concerned. I would've loved to see some combination of Tundra, XG, Spirit, Falcons in the grand finals.

I didnt bother watching them, because I watched Riyadh and some other tournaments out of boredom and they sucked every time it was embarrassing. I just assumed they fluked their way to semifinals.

I only know about Tobi.

I just want to respond to this little bit.
Tobi almost singlehandedly created the scene for this shitty game. This isn't an exaggeration. There would be no esports scene for this without Tobi.

They canceled him and threw him into the trash like he was nothing.

For the newbies here, I'm talking about TobiWan.

To put things in perspective, the prominent caster known as 'Cap' (aka 'The Capitalist'), who has been at the forefront of every TI for the past few years was invited to cast Dota and essentially created from nothing by Tobi. Yet he was also one of the first ones to gladly throw Tobi under the bus.

Scumbag scene.

What are you talking about here specifically? DotA? DotA 2? And even if you refer to the English-speaking scene only, when it comes to DotA, MadMortigan, synderen, Blitz etc were way more relevant. Tobi became relevant later and mostly so because the German organization "joinDOTA" picked him up. And that's basically a DotA 2 thing.

Not sure what's happening with the ranks or whatever but everyone of my games has been a stomp. Either for me or for the opposite team. The quality of players overall seems to have gone worse too. I think this is all 'cuz it's only allowing me to que EU East. Far more scummy players there that's for sure.

Gonna be off the DotA for some time because this isn't fun anymore, it's more about killing time. Gonna wait for the Act IV of Crownfall which hopefully comes out for the holidays.

I've got a Soul Diffuser that I'm thinking for selling for about 30EUR. Feels like it'd be worth it. Does any of you guys know why they make most Dota items unmarketable nowadays? I can't recall what Valve's reasoning was.
