I'm not sure if this would even be relevant in a gaming world with no "romances".
Of course if you're interested in a "romance" (whatever that means) in a game, then you'd "identify" (whatever that means) with the character, and proceed to "romance" (whatever that means) some character you like.
Of course I've always found this utterly idiotic ever since the trend started.
Luckily you can still play as Deirdre in SMAC, as Lara in Tomb Raider, or even as Linn Kurosawa in the Alien vs Predator arcade, and just enjoy the ladies doing their thing.
