Exiting and relaunching the game before creating a new character seems to fix it.

Launch reception looks promising at a first glance, although it's mostly commie press praising commie game and shitfluencers on Steam forums praising shit they got for free.
Still, glad to hear it's reasonably polished so far, the possibility of endless bugfest was the biggest worry with this sort of game.

Oh, shit. I thought I'd have a new game to kill time at work on my Thinkpad X230, but this thing runs on the Unity engine. The effect? About 7 frames per second. The damn text barely scrolls :D

Yeah, this game is good. I mean it's really good at what's tryin' to be. But it's leftist. No doubt 'bout it. Are you guys blind? There was literally an option where you talk about how fascism concerns national revitalization of culture, economy and the state and slap your subconscious down for suggesting that it means re-subjugation of women. You can even be a non-racist, non-women hating fascist (Peronist? Integralist? Futurist?) if you like.. Likewise you can be a racist socialist or a misogynistic moderate or any such combination or end up not giving a shit about any of that and focus on cracking the damn case.
The only thing I don't get is why I get a morale penalty for choosing nationalistic options with Revancholian Nationalism unlocked. I'm also what's curious if I go for both the fascist and communist thought catalogue options (NazBol?)

Assuming that the devs are actually communists, they almost certainly don't.
All that crap (a lot of it from people I suspect haven't even played the game) aside I'm insanely impressed. Six hours and it's only mid-day on Day 2. The writing is.. unlike any game I've played before (in a good way) and has managed to both make me laugh aloud (maybe the very first time in a video game) and struck some pretty real emotional chords. There's a shitload of content and you always feel like you should be on your feet and moving (albeit not to the severity of something like Pathologic). The concept that having stats or traits too high can be a double edged sword is a fascinating one too, especially when your traits start actively fighting each other mid-concept in their advice and suggestions gives you a nice schizophrenic feel.
