there's a reason the Boring Cop stat is there

He has a rich soul though.

Logic: Game theory proves that if you're gonna relapse, it's better not to try to quit using. If you're gonna relapse in 2 days, it's worse to stop using today than stop using tomorrow.

I mean that these 2 quests seem to be linked somehow. I also didn't get dialogue from her on 2d playthrough because I did not proceed with disco quest.

Not having Kim with you also blocks drug quest since you can't break into green car btw.

you can get Ruby's keys from the chill trucker who's closest to Kim's car.

Remember I said arresting boyz cuts some very good content? :M

Haven't arrested anyone.

Yeah, you might try advancing the dance club quest to see if that opens everything up. maybe make sure you checked out everything in the fortress accident offices?

I tried opening the freezer, got a note about needing a better tool. Got the filament memory, talked to the nice lady at the central who said I need a password.

You need to try to remove her for the dance boys, by finding a compromise solution.

But why can't I just use crowbar?
or my 12 level lockpicking, which I leveled for lulz to see if I can open bunker (you can't, even if you overmatch the numbers. you do get a funny thought out of it which helps with container though.)

they should ve allowed to enter dc20 bunker but when you enter it's just broken pixels/pale/system error or something, would have been funnier.

So, how did people handle Measurehead?

I went in wanting to play as a nice cop from the start that would be as polite as he could be and only do violence in self-defense, also on the path of leaving drugs, but Measurehead was so annoyingly narcissistic and insulting that i actually avoided reading dialogue about his ideology just so i could punch him, i wanted to punch him so bad it was the one moment i save scummed in this game...mostly because it took something like 6 damn tries for the punch to land, after reading his dialogue, getting insulted and having to try punching him that many times(and playing through what happens if you fail once), you can be damn sure i did a spin kick on him and it was wonderful.

Guess his body with his sweet tattoos couldn't handle the al gul drinking detective that time!

Someone claimed that with enough points in Physical Instrument you can actually shame Measurehead about skipping leg day, but no idea if that's actually true.

Damn, i went with a physical detective the first time and i didn't get that!

The only time he felt any shame was when a badly dressed algul drinking detective punched and then spin kicked him, but no leg day skipping comment.

I prefer the idea of Harry just never being able to let the woman from his past go, and the memories eating him up until he just snaps and becomes an unhinged alcohol-powered fucker who gave up on life. This, of course, also combines with the stress of his job and the performance expectations he puts on himself for being a SUPERSTAR COP.

At some point, a man's mind just gives in.
Yeah, because harry sees/saw her as dolores dei, a literal messiah figure while his colleagues just see her as "a very fuckable thot"

Also both funny and sad that they weren't even married and it has been 6 years.

Just need to say that Klaasje is the most realistic femme fatale I’ve ever seen in any media. She’s exactly like this girl who chewed me up and spat me out when I was younger—what is it about emotionally impenetrable, sexually available drug addicts that’s so irresistible? She had me practically move into her dorm for a week while her boyfriend was out of town and then it was like nothing ever happened (really feel for Titus and Ruby). Fucked me up for months. Then every time I got a new girlfriend she’d try to sleep with me once or twice, I think mostly to prove she still had power over me (she did).

One of the many problems that come with degenerate fornication. I'd probably get violent, one of many reasons I stay away from such things.

It feels wrong on so many levels playing an alcoholic and doing booze/drugs for stat boosts. Am I the only one to do a sober playthrough?
Al Gul had no power over me. At the end everyone was impressed with me staying clean for an entire week.

Also, the game is The Big Lebowski of RPGs. It's infinitely quotable. Al Gul, Men of Wö, cock carousel, and so on. I hope this stuff catches on, at least among the degenerates around here.

I had to log in just to say this: "fuckers talking shit about cuno's velocity"

I’m just taking a shot in the dark here but I think it’s the sex and the drugs.

I mean, that can’t hurt, but I’m 99% sure it’s the beautiful and emotionally impenetrable part that sucks us in. I’ve had lots of fun with basically normal women who loved having sex and doing drugs, but they never had the Klaasje effect where they seem to entrance every straight man and lesbian they meet. I could say no to them—they didn’t compromise my brain.

Damaged people are great and interesting. Happy, carefree people are sort of banal. YMMV.
There is a banality in such 'alternative lifestyles' as well. I'd argue that it's mostly a matter of perspective and what might satisfy one's need for exoticism and/or rebellion.

There is sometimes a strange alchemy and I don't really know that it can be dissected any further than that. Beauty can be a part of it I'm sure; some women have it in a way that goes way beyond being merely conventionally attractive. Sometimes you even just see someone on the street who is so achingly beautiful that she makes your heart miss a beat -- and at least I cannot for the life of me define what specifically it is that sets her apart from the many other conventionally attractive women our planet is blessed with.

I think it's a rare quality that's orthogonal to beauty, often but not invariably associated with it. Cleopatra supposedly wasn't all that conventionally attractive, but also by all accounts had it in spades. I knew someone like that once. She also wore her hair in bangs...

They're a giant PITA if you have to live with them on a day to day basis though.

Often, yeah. But I love seeing someone like that happy eventually, since they deserve it. It's a process.

Also, I can't replicate being super-intense other than with these "fellow travellers". In a way that essentially produces a reality distortion field separate from rules of any normal social interaction.

That implies self-destructive or self-defeating behavior. I was referring to having been through a lot making a person more valuable.

There is no overcoming in the case of the (currently) emotionally impenetrable, sexually available drug addicts which your original post was referencing. With your latter point I do agree on principle though. There is wisdom to be found in experience, whether the person in question realizes it or not.

Grab the Codex by the pussy Pathfinder: Wrath
I really liked the game, it's the kind of game I can recommend to my more enlightened friends who don't actually play games due to the fact that it's great noir, possibly more than it's a great game.

I was not surprised or put off by the appearance of The Deserter, as the game being so inspired by Kentucky Route Zero and PS: T led me to believe that the game would ultimately be a tragedy, a trait shared by both games but especially apparent in KRZ. The player is still rewarded by having the case be solvable, and the appearance of the character does help the last few pieces fall into place (like the flower and the Inland Empire stuff). If the game takes a misstep it is in the obviously artificial restriction of preventing the player from going to the Island before the tribunal. Obviously this would have worked against the tragic character of the plot (as the tribunal would have been avoided entirely, robbing the story of a climax) but it may also be that ZA/UM simply didn't have the resources to consider an alternative resolution to the story.

That said, I feel like most people are misinterpreting the existence of the mid-game Shivers check. It is not a skill-gate as people are assuming. I passed it with a Shivers of 1, but I did every other task so that the chance was like, 83% or something. It is the game's way of telling you to keep exploring the area. However if your Harry has an exceptional intuition and city sense the game is gracious enough to let you skip the whole segment. It's a case where your intuition is so strong that it overrides the entirely reasonable objections of your partner.

I should reiterate that I really enjoyed the myriad Kentucky Route Zero influences. Perhaps it is me reading too much into it but it appears to me that ZA/UM did their homework well. The Doomed Commercial Area, the retro computer technology, the references to games and game development, the notion of pale-driving and Motorway South, and more generally the the overarching theme of surface appearances hinting at a greater, less comprehensible reality are nods towards KRZ. In a sense Disco Elysium is a game of excavation much like Kentucky Route Zero is. It's an excavation of a character, a city, and then a world framed around a murder mystery. The city aspect of this doesn't always work, as its backstory is often swamped by an encyclopedic deluge of names, places and information; it works best during the exploration of the game environments and when the player is forced to voice a (non-)opinion.

The character studies and the metaphysical aspects are fantastic, though. Besides Harry, nearly every character in the game is memorable, Ruby being an exception -- it seems her name refers to the fact that she ends up being a COLOSSAL (tm) red herring. I would single out Cunoesse as my favorite, as I don't run into many pure psychopaths in games.

Also, I need the dice maker theme in my life.

Wooah.

I may have accidentally called my partner, my bro, the wonderful Kim Kitsuragi... a ... yellow ... monkey fucker.

But boy howdy did I ever invent the future of dance music.

I wonder why developers were afraid to kill Kim during shooting if things go really bad. They then could have rewritten Harry dialogue into disco-Harry and show him truly fall to madness. Make some legendary branching out there and throw some plot bombs and things. Would make game truly worthy of a replay.
