There are plenty of great (or good) modernish first person RPGs:

- Grimoire (the Holy of Holies)
- The Bard's Tale IV Director's Cut (actually very decent)
- Swords & Sorcery - Underworld - Definitive Edition (amazing)
- Legends of Amberland (fine)
- Infinite Adventures (seems great, haven't played it extensively)
- Elminage Gothic (seems great, haven't played it extensively)
- Elminage Original (amazing)
- Operencia (decent)
- 7 Mages (decent)
- Aeon of Sands (decent)

If we include remakes...
- The Bard's Tale Trilogy (excellent remake)
- Realms of Arkania Blade of Destiny (really not bad if you put the jank aside)
- Realms of Arkania Star Trail (really not bad if you put the jank aside)

This is off the top of my head, and I'm sure there's more.

First, we need to define what is an... Okay, okay, nevermind.

Though seriously, there is no shortage of new first-person RPG's. The only issue is that many of them suck, are "Action RPG's" or JRPG anime abominations.

People nowdays prefere third-person view because it's more... "immersive" (???). Or they are giant coomers.

Controlling a party in first-person is too much abstraction for some people
