WASD is better for action games that require twitch controls, ARPGs, despite the name are mostly trials for build testing, there are people who ran bots on Diablo II, that is how uninvolved the combat on those games are, Diablo II is ultra easy and has no end game. Twitch movement maybe is useful on some games like Grim Dawn deeper shards where some bosses attacks can one shot you and you need to dodge three at the same time but even there, KMB will get you killed less frequently. Gamepad is only maybe good for casual play but I honestly dont see the point.

Don't knock WASD movement until you try it. You can move + target at the same time instead of relying on the same input to move and target.
Basically, as Perkel said, it controls like a twin-stick shooter.

The thing about it is not that decoupled movement and direct controls is more efficient well in some cases they are but overall mouse precision lead to better more accurate CC and so on. It is just better from gameplay perspective aka it fucking feels much better to play. Grim Dawn instantly feels better when i tried it with pad despite pretty lazy implementation. Imagine racing game where you click with mouse where car drives instead of directly controling your car. After trying decopled movement from targeting it is incredibly janky to go back to k+m.

As for action paart of arpg imho it is important. The reason why people play D2 is not that there are stats. If stats themselves would matter that much someone would make exel game instead. Hitting stuff is also as important for arpg as good system mechanics.

As mentioned in other threads, there is a pattern of censorship and uglification in Western media and Amazonian looking less like a "Playboy doll" but more like a transexual man in his 50s fits the pattern and yes its obviously intentionally made.

Both first and second Diablo game had female characters that were feminine, which in your mind means that they are "Playboy dolls", but its 2021 and feminine females in 2021 are problematic.

It's very easy to speedrun through the game with the buffs to the classes + knowing a few runewords. Everything together gives me a feeling of pointlessness about the entire game.

No. It is 1:1 gameplay aside from small QOL. People would crucify them if they would change it. If you didn't like original gameplay you won't like this one.

From a visual standpoint the actual game part looks good, and what Vicarious Visions did here makes all of Bizzard's talk when they were first showing off Diablo 3 about how it does actually look like the previous games all the funnier.

The talk about them making the Paladin black is stupid given he was black before. I can kind of get missing this in the in-game model, but he's very clearly a black guy in the art for the magazine ad.

Amazon has a man face now and I'm not sure how anyone could say she looks like she did in the original game.

The characters faces do however all look more generic now, and almost all of them seem to have been aged up around 15 years.

The way they talked about approaching the game with a controller seems a little weird when games built around the controller like Dragons Dogma have shown you can very easily let the player select precisely where they want the action to hit on the ground. I'd think that would be even easier to do in top down than that games third person view. Instead they seem to be doing things the way Diablo 3 on consoles did thing, which worked, but there's also been stuff like Lost Ark and even that Diablo iOS game that seem to do that better.

It's pretty much the current punching game in videogames. If anything is changed in a way that reduces sex appeal, then surely there must be an agenda going on! And yet, people tend to change their mind on things they have worked on in the past, because times change and people change too. I dislike games I used to think were great, and I enjoy games I used to think were shit. Likewise, back then the devs must have thought "this Amazon chick is banging!", and now they may have thought "this character looks retarded".

In the future, we will end with every character in videogames looking like an anime girl because that's all gamers seem to care about. And like those gacha games, the gameplay will be shit but since you can coom to the games, all's fine.
