He can't kickstart another Realms of Arkania game?
That's basically what Deathfire is, sans the license. And I see no reasons to believe it'd fare better if it had one.

Then it's time to move on. He needs to bring something new and original to the table.

Bullshit. He needs to finish this one first with some other form of financing. And he already hinted at that in interviews.

Has there ever been a kickstarter that failed spectacularly and then secured private funding? You would think that a highly-publicized videogame campaign that didn't even reach 50% funding would speak for itself to any

No, even if the rule system is inspired by TDE.
I would have pledged to a RoA inspired game in an instant. I did to Thorvalla. But I'm simply not interested in a Dungeon Crawler about Zombies.

Realms of Arkania didn't have dungeon crawling elements? Some of the dungeons in Star Trail were among the most memorable experiences I've had in cRPGs. Even without overland travel, Deathfire is closerin design to a classic RPG, including the Realms of Arkania series, than Thorvalla was.

And the disdain for zombies. There were undead in realms of Arkania, as well as a necrophobia negative attribute, which is consistent with Deathfire's design. Again, claiming praise for Arkania but faulting Deathfire is curious indeed.

I have never been much of a Dungeon Crawling fan. For me, the best part of RoA was always the overland travel.

Deathfire is not a dungeon crawler. Here's what the first paragraph on the Kickstarter says
A single-player party-based CRPG that combines deep characters and rich storytelling with turn-based combat—NOT A DUNGEON CRAWLER!
probably because too many people assumed that it is a dungeon crawler.

I know it has no chance of funding now, but there's way too much misinformation about

He has done a terrible job explaining the setting. All I know about it is that an evil wizard has summoned zombies. Which sounds generic.

Wut? :O Why wasn't this featured on the Codex? Or at least mentioned. First I hear about it.

Btw. the kickstarter jumped from 3.000 backers (110.000K) to 3.015 backers (120.000K). The last 15 backers must have invested a lot of money.

New rewards include Realms of Arkania music
Therefore, I have decided to re-record a number of my tracks from the “Star Trail” and “Shadows Over Riva” soundtracks and release them as a Kickstarter reward. This is not simply a remastering of the original tracks or some such. Instead I will completely redo these tracks, rework the arrangements and re-record them with the technology that is available to me today.
