Beware, it plays more like 'classic' AC than ACFA.

Finished the last boss this afternoon, the throwing strategy worked like a charm - felt like cheating. Time to farm some missing pieces now.

I personally would say it's more like a cross between ACFA and V in terms of gameplay, since it shares a multiple armor types mechanism like V (main damage types being general damage, Bullet damage, and Laser damage rather than Kinetic/Chemical/Thermal, and added Burn/Stun/Acid resistances) and is in general faster than AC before 4. Its infinite flight is similar to how it works in 4 and ACFA, it's not actually infinite since you do have an energy reserve (named Stamina for some reason, probably to just immediately tell people who aren't into mecha sims what it does) that has to recover and if you boost it all away or otherwise run out you're down to running on the ground until it fully recovers.

A specific thing I mentioned as being kind of a proof-of-concept for a more open and larger mission design, Exploration Mode, really in general adds a lot to the game. It's a lot more fun to hunt for parts and stuff in a semi-random extended "dungeon" than redoing one short mission again and again (which you'll probably end up having to do anyway to get a specific weapon variant), and having a 3-on-1 Arsenal fight at the end serves to test and hone your build and skill nicely. Just remember to use the Slot Expander glitch, I don't think they switched it off yet, since even besides it eventually driving you insane getting a specific part at 3 slots it will also allow you to do things like get a 3-slot Excalibur (there's literally no reason why they didn't allow this, Excalibur is not an outstanding melee weapon besides being basically gimped by having only 1 slot at maximum normally). It's just a shame they never used any of their aboveground tiles for a third Exploration Mode map, would have loved a more varied and tactical environment to fight in. But it does show that what mecha sims have really needed all along for a next evolution is an "Armored Souls" world design with a looter-shooter salvage mechanic (good luck getting any publisher to give money to make that).
