I guess Fallout: New Orleans is a popular idea among Fallout devs. He's also hoping he'll get to make Van Buren as a Fallout game one day, which might suggest there's nothing concrete about the trademark Fargo filed.

Yeah, it's a little cryptic but my guess is he meant that he should have left sooner (for everyone's sake).

It must be funny for MCA to reply on twitter then read the reactions and interpretations here.
I think that's an unspoken truth at this point. He helped South Park just a little bit with cutscenes and the other projects with feedback, but the only work of his own in his last 5 years at Obsidian was 75% cut. No wonder he went out of his way to work on side-projects, to the point where he worked on FTL for free.
MCA was just saying it was definitely the right time for him to move on. I'd bet he resents the people he holds responsible for making his life miserable there (as anyone should), but overall wishes them success. He has praised them numerous tims since his departure, and "Should be a great announcement" is another gesture of goodwill.

If I was the best writer in the industry I'd also be pissed that they cut 75% of everything I do.

It reads like he left at the right moment, and that while the announcement will be great, nothing that follows will be.

At least, that is how it reads to me.

Case in point:

If I was the best writer in the industry I'd also be pissed that they cut 75% of everything I do.
I find it hard to believe that the two PoE companions were his only major work at Obsidian since the FNV DLCs (almost four years). If they cancelled the rumoured MCA-led secret project, it was even more than 75%.
Avellone's 75% is any other given writer's 300%.
True enough, but as he's been saying in interviews since his departure, "life's too short" and all that.

Pitch to the Pros: Game Narrative Critiques

This session will provide attendees the chance to pitch their ideas for game narrative to a panel of seasoned professionals and get immediate feedback and advice. Topics will include world-building, character development, plot structure, thematic integration, semiotic processes, and more. Attendees are invited to bring their ideas for any kind of video game narrative, from the most linear, cinematic experience to the most abstract, gameplay-focused narrative system. Similarly, the panel will provide critiques for all levels of experience, from those beginning their career in game narrative, to veterans looking for a sounding board.

Can't be bothered to watch, but I'm sure somebody will tell us if there was something interesting.

Next time we need a codexer to go in and pitch the idea of a dating sim where the girls are gender-swapped game developers. "Then there is this one girl, Italian called Christina Avellina..."

And it would still be less awkward than any of the pitches I just saw.
