This is interesting. From a Steam review:

YOU ARE NOT PURCHASING A GAME, BUT A DLC FOR THE CALL OF DUTY LAUNCHER, and your Steam playtime will be shared by any other CoD game that uses this launcher. If you have more than 2 hours cumulative in any CoD, you will be unable to refund the game without opening a Steam support ticket, which is not a guaranteed refund. This is a clear attempt to circumvent Steam's refund policies.

I picked up a copy. Haven't played a COD game in about 6 years and Microsoft is inevitably going to kill the franchise off quickly like everything else they buy so figured what the hell. I'll give it one last go.

The new movement system feels good. Seems like not a big deal on paper but I could see this becoming a normal thing in the genre going forward. Maybe not the diving/sliding but definitely multidirectional sprinting.

It's the upscaling, recent games learned to rely on it too much. DLSS, FSR, PSSR (Sony) and others, it's just gamedevs pissing in your beer and calling it a radler.

It's also not true.
I owned Modern Warfare III (2023) since before and bought Black Ops 6 and I easily refunded Black Ops 6.
When you're in the help → refund dialog you have to choose the specific receipt of your Black Ops 6 purchase and refund that, not Call of Duty itself.
Did not have to open a ticket.

I will say that's it's stupid that their annoying fucking one-size-fits-all launcher slightly befuddles the refund process (and installation process as well), but it does work, you can refund it no issues.

First COD game in over 10 years to have a positive audience rating on metacritic. Not sure if that means anything. Maybe the haters finally got bored? Maybe Metacritic started filtering bad reviews? Maybe it's the first good COD in forever? Who tf knows? I will say it's the first COD I've really enjoyed since the original Black Ops.

I don't think these games could ever last. Like you say even when I was most into it it only lasted for a few short months. I doubt I'll still be playing this next year. And then I can probably skip the rest of the series without giving af.

It was a refresh the series needed, played well, and changed the series in a good way. Modern Warfare 2019 saved the franchise yet it seems the more diehard the COD fan the more they hated 2019 for being a "milsim".

Black Ops 6 is too spastic they catered to the adderall sniffers with the insane movement speed and the maps are so fucking tiny and claustrophobic. Even 4chan is defending black ops 6 what is with the internet and loving Treyarch garbage exactly?
