Irrational Games had one of the largest gaming hits of the past decade and afterwards retrenched almost their entire staff compliment.

What game are you talking about? Infinite?

That didn't sell as well as they were hoping apparently.
2K biggest seller has actually been Borderlands 2, go figure. Ken has clearly failed.

While I didnt get the game mainly cause I dont give a shit about adventure games, but I did follow the Brazilian tears drama, it is suprising that they sold only 70k copies of the game.
They raised twice the money in Kickstarter than they sold on Steam and it should be the other way around. They had coverage(even at VGX), hype, famous (voice)actors, money, the company reputation etc etc..
Is it piracy? The asking price? How did it fail so badly? How can unknown Daedalic make several games a year and probably outsell this game with each title?

I doubt its piracy since even I didnt bother leeching this shit!!

At a glance, it doesn't look like anything that couldn't have come from a shovelware studio.

Watch a few gameplay videos, and it still looks like shovelware.

It is astounding how stupid some people are. You can say that it is a bad game, but saying it is a shovelware is retarded.

It's not necessarily what it is, it's what it looks like.

It looks like a hipster game, not shovelware. Apart from the characters I think that the graphical quality is pretty good. If a decent artist --like Peter Chan-- had done the character art, it would look great. But no, Tim had to give the art direction to Stapley, because "he had promised him". Fuck.

Art wise the biggest disappointment was that the Stapley work they showed prior to the game was very surreal and none of that made it into the game. Every character is roughly human sized and shaped roughly like a real animal.

That Community Manager guy started at the same time of the 2PP videos. In all the videos he never seemed to click with anyone at the company. Poor fella.

IIRC the first thing he said in the documentary was a disagreement with one of Tim's ideas and Tim had the look of "Who is this douche?".

I'd be surprised if there weren't many, like myself, who are interested but absolutely refuse to purchase half a game. It just seems like a terrible way to play that kind of game.

Yes I imagine quite a few people are waiting for the full game to be released and it will have a sales spike when Act II comes out.

Based on the latest episode of the documentary Stapley is an annoying twat. And yes, his art is poor too.

Based on their work in AF projects both Lee Petty and the Levi guy are better artists than him.

Finished Act I (like I can finish Act II), I just have the horrible realization that Double Fine only makes games that aim at a very young audience but they also add some things here and there that is actually fruity/dark (which is also aiming at a very young audience come to think of it). They should relocate to Europe where I heard government will pay them to make artsy games like this?

I think it's a nice adventure game but it's not "classical" in style, which I remember is the keyword in that Kickstarter?

Yep. I won't even consider purchasing it until it's complete. Why would I want to split up a story-driven game?

Also I think the art looks like shit, so I'll probably wait for a discount even after it's finished.

You have no idea of how tempted I am of including a '"He's a jerk" - Tim Schafer' quote at the back of my book....

And you should see the PM's I got... "If you shit on your hand and eat it, I'll send you a link to download King Quest 1, so you can have all the old-school shit you want!". No wonder these people got excited with Broken Age...

Nah, fuck that loser, the project is too big to stain with petty things like this.

But you can bet on some massive DRAMA once the book hit the news and someone inevitably points out I'm "that guy"... heh.

Ahhh, nothing better than the arrogant ignorant bully you don't know if you feel pity, feel rage or just analyse with scientific curiosity to undertand how the brain of the Dumber Erectus species works. Honestly, people have some daddy issues with Tim Schaffer or something? Did they chose him for the father they never had? This type of agressive defense of a person is boderline psychotic. I should had guess that behind hipsterland easy smiles and all good manners are really deranged creatures.

Where is that pic from?

I mean it's obviously from double fine forums, but it looks like it's in some sort of a video?
