The first map was good, but I would have hated if the whole game was a dusty canyon setting. The swamp is a good change of pace, and I think the enemy design switches things up nicely.

Yes! I was hoping for standalone content, as the difficulty of the base game became too easy in Ch 2, such that Ch 3 was a disappointing cakewalk

The swamp was the worst area in the entire game by far. They should've stuck with the desert or made a new map from scratch

Looks like someone's been inspired by this classic:

Interesting. New Blood is now involved. What could this mean, beyond helping with promotion?

I did not know there was a DLC in the works. I really enjoyed my time on the game so I will be looking forward to it. Shame it's the swamps again, Chapter 2 was one I liked the least and the feral girl whose dad we're playing here unless I'm mistaken didn't even give a possible location for her dad.
Maybe they will touch on the main game's ending too, there's a phyrric victory and then there's "go fuck yourself", it more the latter than the former.

Just finished this one, and oh boy, what a disappointment. Certainly not an im-sim, more like a rushed two-dimensional power fantasy with an incoherent skill system glued onto it. Fun for a time, but doesn't grow into anything worthwhile, unfortunately.
The bad: story, approach rigidity, enemy AI, quest design, unique items' distribution, stealth, spatial sound, skill system, death punishment mechanics, weirdly restrictive inventory and artifact system.
The good: music, enemy design, general soundscape, level and environment design, overall vibe.
I had the impression that the game has 2 working player builds, and only the stealth one would be fun for me.
The protagonist has no clear stakes in the story, and is just a pawn, and yet he vomits one-liners after every action. Hard to care about any of this.
For a dark fantasy, there is no magic build option for the player at all, which will hopefully be somewhat fixed in the DLC. Even if I'm in the wrong for expecting a more versatile build options in an im-sim, the end-game is rather dull, and all the bosses are pushovers, even for a glass cannon build.
Won't be getting the DLC, but do hope it will be more fun to play

Played this game, and I agree with all the criticisms. The combat system is way two simple and is a slog. There are 2 different attacks and that's about it.

The stealth system is classic and offers nothing new, use a rock to divert an enemy and then kill him in the back, BOOORING.

The skill system is full of +% skills, lame.
The world is handcrafted (a plus) but full of macguffin. The quests are : bring me X, kill me that, unfortunately.

The game looks like Unturned graphically speaking, it's hideous. I can't see shit in the game without turning brightness on because of how pixelated and dark it is.

So how the hell did they manage to ruin it?
Should've just made it a Blood clone.
Probably would've been better that way.

It's full of under-developed interesting ideas because it's a one man project. It needs more budget and more people.

Which game are you talking about? Blood West was developed by HyperStrange, which according to the internet has around 36 employees.

What? I remember seeing one guy in the menu, and after playing the game, it really feels like a one man project similar to Unturned.

That's just because the game is rough. It's not a good look when a game is so unpolished people think it's a no-budget solodev project.
