My brief experience with the ghetto Souls-clones is that they did have decent level design. Hellpoint for instance was pretty good in that respect, all things considered.
Hellpoint is definitely one of the better ones when it comes to level design.Hellpoint for instance was pretty good in that respect, all things considered.
Probably Series S related"PC and PS5 users can enjoy the full game starting August 20, 2024," reads the full statement. "We are currently optimising the Xbox Series X/S version to meet our quality standards, so it won't release simultaneously with the other platforms. We apologise for the delay and aim to minimize the wait for Xbox users. We will announce the release date as soon as it meets our quality standards."
It's unclear exactly why the Xbox version needs further optimising, though this isn't the first time this has happened - the Xbox version of Baldur's Gate 3 was heavily delayed due to difficulties with split-screen co-op on the underpowered Series S.
Further, the FAQ notes that DLC and "non-pay-to-win in-game purchases" may be released in future.
Lastly, while the game is available physically, this won't actually include a disc. "It is the first time for Game Science to release a console game globally, and we are currently facing limitations in offline resources required for the import, export, transportation, distribution, and sales of physical discs," reads the statement from Game Science. "These factors have made it difficult for us to sell physical discs simultaneously with the official release of the game.
"Our publishing team is actively working on resolving these issues and exploring options to offer physical discs."
I would take the "action RPG" marketing with a grain of salt. Nothing I've seen (which isn't everything, granted) makes me think Seiken Densetsu, Diablo, or Demon's Souls anymore than it makes me think Devil May Cry or any number of character action games. Having a skill tree (which is really an ability or special moves tree) just makes it an action game with a skill tree. I haven't seen any base attributes, character classes, weapon classes, armor shops, etc. And boss rush? So Contra Hard Corps with monkey with a stick. Such action, much RPG.It's fine if people like this kind of thing, but I prefer rewarding and interesting exploration in my action-RPGs and attention payed to encounter design found during said exploration. Boss fights will always be secondary for me. Guess we'll see once the game is out proper. Really hope the demo isn't indicative of the entire experience, because I love Journey to the West, the overall aesthetic they've landed on with this, and Chinese games in general. I would like for it to be something I can be excited about.
It is a thing and it happens all the time. There's probably more demos on the market now than there has ever been before.A demo would have been cool. It's so annoying that that isn't a thing anymore.
imo it's bad and it might be even worse in real game scenarios.Isn't 57 fps with frame gen on horrible already for 720p?
I haven't really kept up with any of the game's marketing material up since I wasn't interested in it until I got it for free while upgrading PC components, so I don't really know how much they've shown in past videos and trailersADL, after you have done scamming white people and curtail free speech can you tell us how the level design is? Is it actually like Souls with exploration and level design or is it really just a sequence of bosses?
Review embargo lifts tomorrow, so we should have some answers to this soon enough.ADL, after you have done scamming white people and curtail free speech can you tell us how the level design is? Is it actually like Souls with exploration and level design or is it really just a sequence of bosses?
