Anyone played it already?

If you start SoD game immediately, can you choose which NPCs from BG1 to have with you? Or how does it work?

I already installed the thing, but I don't want to spoil anything for myself. So unless I can choose NPCs, I'll play BG1EE first.

It assigns NPCs to you. My party has Minsc, Khalid, etc. I found a post back in 2015 saying it would be based on the alignment you choose but I am not sure if that is the case in final product.

well, I don't have Minsc, for instance. I chose true neutral.

Creating a character right now, choosing character's voice. Realized something.

Although it's quite well hidden because the voice is somewhat altered, after listening to them all 5-6 times, I realized "Male: Commanding" is voiced by David Warner, lol. Recognized it by his pronunciation, mostly.

I can't seem to exit the tomb in the beginning. The game just enters cinematic mode and nothing happens. WTF?

Started a lawful evil fighter.

Got:
Dorn (Blackguard)
Safana (Thief)
Viconia
Edwin
Baeloth (Sorcerer)

Nuetral Good and Chaotic Good both give:

Minsc (Ranger)
Khalid (Fighter)
Jaheira (Fighter / Druid)
Safana (Thief)
Dynaheir (Invoker)

Immoen is a helpful NPC but not part of party.

Fresh out of the oven!
*Note I'll only post this one video in this thread, everything else will be posted in the Shane Plays LPs and Interviews thread Infinitron graciously created for me lo these many months back)

This episode: Once again into the Baldur's Gate breach, after all these years! Things kick right off with a stolen sword and a dungeon crawl. And just who is the mysterious woman bearing down on the Sword Coast with an army, anyway?

Somebody reported it http://redmine.beamdog.com/issues/22124

Try this:
According to player OranjeLament, the problem was fixed by deleting all local content in Steam then going into my Baldur's Gate folder in my Program Files and deleting everything there, then re-downloading worked.

Does it suck?
It's as buggy as an obshitian game in beta, but I'm still enjoying it after 3 hours and I'm just ignoring the EE flaws, forcing myself to imagine they're not there.

I haven't gotten any really noticeable bugs, just my usual IE grievances, like why esc doesn't uniformly close windows...

Why does it look so much worse and less detailed than isometric games from 15+ years ago?

The hard truth is that the art of making these kinds of 2D games has been lost to time, much like the writings of the Greek philosophers were lost during the Dark Ages.

Or like tears... in the rain...

Man, Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2 had full Polish localization 18 and 16 years ago, respectively. BG1's release basically created a market for non-pirated computer games all by itself, and started CD Projekt's rise to power.

This thing does not even have Polish subtitles. Not to mention a boxed distribution here.

How the world has declined.

who gives a fuck about localization?
All my not fluent in English friends.

Gonna get this, got a character ready for a couple of months now :)

Like the improvements. Pathfinding seems much better. Tried the labyrinth before Sarevok and they stuck together.

I guess you could say this DLC is not Polished.

But seriously, who gives a fuck about localization?

Also, BigWorldSetup shows EE compatible mods.

I am confused, why is D:OS on sale on the same day that SoD comes out? Can somebody fill me in?

I don't know for sure, but the best part of SoD's release for me so far has been that my hunt for DOS:EE at a discount has finally ended! This is a lesson of sorts: releases of new games can potentially save you money! If SoD is good, I'll get it in good time too. :1up:
