...the famed reactivity and a billion dialogue choices...
Fabled Bioware / Black Isle of late used to teach us that the alternative routes meant also alternative yields. That violence was often neither the best option, nor the best rewarded one.
I mean, isn't this a story-telling element to strive for in *any* complex RPG be it tabletop or videogame? To inspire choices?
Now, I have a reason to believe that the said is not the case of BG3. I just scared grave-robbers away by Bluffing and that was it. No EXP for trying to solve the situation, nor any other reward.
In all honesty, I don't know if I meet them later. So, maybe there's a RP "reward". But meh, where's the inspiration. Next time, I'll likely just choose simple violence and I will be, in the very least, rewarded by EXP and loot.
After all, I read the--otherwise pretty good queue--in the dialogue options, and by that it served its purpose already.
Clicking on it served none :/
Oh, I apologize. This here isn't true. In the log, I've just seen being awarded 15 EXP for Persuasion check passed in a different situation. I likely missed it before.

Almost done with Act I. The companions are quite good across the board, something I never would have expected. The only one I actively dislike is Karlach and perhaps Wyll, but the latter is just because he is incredibly boring. All the others have redeemable qualities and Act I has been spent setting up arcs and development for them all - all arcs seem to have build up towards at least two fundamental outcomes for each.

DC 15 lock on a chest.
+9/12 in proficiency bonuses.
Fail three times in a row.

I guess it is possible to run out of Thief tools.

You’d get pissed off too running into a cloud of daggers.

“You fucking asshole. ARRGGGHH OUCH!!!”

Mage
“Stop being a dumb fuck running into active spells.”

Unless I'm missing something, this Nere part in Grymforge is bullshit. No way around it, just forced into a massive-ass slog of a battle no matter what you do.

Yeah, I think the logs/presentation for most effects/exp gains/random shit that happens aren't really good. I didn't get to completely read one of the "X approves/disapproves" thingies in one interaction and I wasn't able to get it to show in any of the 3 logs the game has. I don't mind cluttered UIs but this one is a certainly not very functional.

Wyll is weird, he has way more content and unique cutscenes if you pick him as an origin rather than as a companion. Which is the opposite for almost all other characters.

I very, very much doubt it will grow more than that. We will peak today, first weekend day after release.
But this is still overachieving for a turn based cRPG. Great success.

Agreed. The achievement is already unlocked. Can't see a single player game peak higher than "first saturday after releaseday"

10 hours in, I'm doing my first long rest. The camp shall be known as "cringe corner" from now on.

Also, my wife walked by and asked why are everyone dressed in S&M attire.

But no, seriously, it's not as terrible as many people described it here. The conversations made sense given how long we've been together with these party members. And you can avoid corny talk if you want to.
What does your wife's boyfriend think about the game?

It is les growth, though, comparing from dos 1 to dos 1 than dos2 to bg3. :D

Spin is fun!

Since I killed Astarion, I had to respect Lae'zel a little bit, giving her a little extra Dex so she could do my sneaking for me. The problem? Fighters don't get Stealth or Sleight of Hand proficiencies, at all. But that problem is no problem at all.

Meet my new stealth specialist, nevermind the two-handed sword.

Also, if anyone knows where Rolan is in act 2, I'd be grateful for help.

Hogwarts Legacy peaked on the Sunday after releaseday, so I'd say it's within the realm of possibility.

Morrowind obviously

Overall even Oblivion's quests are better than Daggerfall's, because at least their premise is usually solid and fun, it's the execution and mechanics that consistently ruin the experience

Yeah but you don't play Daggerfall for the quests. Daggerfall was basically the dungeon crawler version of Elite. Different kind of game entirely, which is why carrying over some of its vestigial elements in the later games was always stupid.

It will probably peak tomorrow, on Sunday, and break 700k.

This kind of success can change an industry, so we will undoubtedly see more CRPGs. That is if BG3 is actually selling as well as it seems, and not only early access players are returning.

The only downside is that they will probably all copy Larian's woke formula where you can fuck bears, create futas in the character creator and romance anything that walks.
