I have no issue with gays, transgender, what have you, but I don't want modern day hot button political issues anachronistically showcased in fantasy games. I play games to escape this shit, not have it shoved down my throat. So, I had $23 left of my April gaming budget that I was going to buy this expansion with but instead bought (rebought really) Starpoint Gemini 2 gold edition, Krai Mira, and the newest expansion to Wastewalker (great survival focused crpg if anyone is looking for a good. hard game to play). Suck on that Beamdog, no one wants political bullshit forced on them in games. Fire Gaider and your opther Bioware console hacks and hire writers without an agenda.

The tranny character is obviously the SJW writer in the feathered cap trolling, so I wouldn't beat yourselves up so much about it. If there was an option to tell them "Get away from me freak!" or to attack them no one would care...instead you have to "accept", which is the sticking point.

The stoner in the tavern did stand out like a sore thumb (probably because they wasted a substantial portion of their VO budget on it for some reason) but as others have said, was no less ridiculous than some of the stuff in the original BG.

I'm enjoying the gameplay so far - some of the combat is actually quite challenging given I didn't have an EE endgame save to carry over into the expansion and thus don't have a great deal of optimal equipment to access. I would have liked to recruit Tiax but alas he seems to have been thrown in for a comic relief cameo.

- Launched BG1 and looked at starting SoD area... listened to some dialog
- Got bored, quit BG1 and launched BG2 to check out the 2.0 UI changes

When you insert your real world politics or easter eggs in a scifi or fantasy game you're just shooting yourself in the leg. Because when the player encounters these things he's immediately pulled out of the game world to this one. And he realizes that it's not the character that is speaking to him, it's the writer, usually a moronically shitty one too. And he/she wants to have a word with you. Stop playing and listen.

What's that you say? RPGs are a form of escapism? LUDICROUS! They're clearly delivery systems through which you can (and should!) cram your political agenda down players' throats.

I don't understand that, either. The huge black outlines around characters, the peculiar fields of sharp contrast around the map, the UI elements and design that are shittier than the original... it looks like shit, which is why I've always figured I'm better off playing the originals with a resolution/UI mod or two.

That and all the additional bugs and badly-written garbage they apparently add to the original games.

I want to reiterate something: Trannies, lesbian, gay, blind, deaf, invalid, etc characters are just fine.

They worked in Psycho, they worked in Other Voices Other Rooms, they worked in Transamerica, and in that movie with Robin Williams where John Lithgow is a cross dresser. Guess what? These are real characters that are built into a story. Not fucking tokens to remind everyone of your goddamn political views.
