PropheticOooooooohhh JEEEEEWWWWWYYYY! Where is ma Jewy? Where at? C'mon go do your thang. You know, D JEW THANG! Go say how this is on GamePass, and how RPGs have long legs in sales and how Pillars is more suited for isometric perspective, and that's why PoE 3 will be smash hit. Say how DLCs will save it. Mention Joshua Sawyer. C'mon! Make us laugh! Amuse us, that is your job, Jewy. Split a thread or two, create 5 new sub-forums, BAN everyone who hasn't bought Avowed for a month. Post every review of Avowed as separate new News Article on main page[...]
The tutorial is fine. It's what comes afterwards that the boredom and mediocrity sets in.Bought this today over Steam and just played the first couple of hours (Just landed in Paradis).
Just from the tutorial area alone I can already say this is such a breath of fresh air to play, in a kinda quaint and old manner, compared to the modern bloated AAAA monstrosities that pass as CRPGs. It's like a cross between Dark Messiah and Pillars. You got the sleakness and the handcrafted levels from the heydays of gaming, combined with the depth and lore of Eora put into it by a seasoned CRPG developer. It's such a joy to play Avowed without ever feeling like it's a second job. Game is definitely a keeper.
Such a cool detail.
You gotta wait in line. He just finished riding Bioware's dick, and is on top of Obsidians now.Morgoth keep riding my dick, muppet
Have you considered heroine or meth? They are probably more healthy for mind & body then playing AvowedHi.
Miriamele, Kai, and Marius departed the settlement in search of two lost Rangers, which she found odd considering they were lost in their own backyard. A few other notable people had asked for assistance, one being an older lady who was looking for someone to deliver food to three different burial sites to help the spirits find their way. A local farmer had his food stolen which he was saving to feed his wife during her final few days in Eora, and all three tasks surrounded Fior mes Ivèrno which would keep Miriamele busy for a good portion of the night. As the sun began to set did the trio set out along the western bridge and toward the edge of The Wildwoods that lay beyond.
SEARCHING FOR THE TWO RANGERS

The party was saddened by the search, learning that both had been touched by the Dreamscourge and were on their way to becoming Dreamthralls. The report back to their captain offered no true resolution, for once one starts their journey toward a Dreamthralls, they become lost to the changes the Dreamscourge has placed on them. With the crescent moon still sharp in the night sky, Miriamele, Kai, and Marius backtracked along the river's edge where the farmer had last seen the thieves who stole his only crate of food. Surprisingly, Miriamele recognized a number of them from Paradis, and they allowed the party to parlay with their leader for some medicine to cure the farmer's wife, while they could keep the food they stole. Not the best outcome, but at least now the wife and husband could starve together.
Across the river and along the cliff, portion of The Wildwoods were flooded, creating a swamp called the Grim Wetlands that made movement more difficult, but it was in this location one of the burial sites was supposed to be. Wading through the muck proved tiring, yet rewarding when the site was found.

Our journey turned back east toward Fior mes Ivèrno, following the southwest cobbled road as the sun began to rise. Morning mist curled before us but never dampening our spirit. We would meet the farmer in the early afternoon and provide medicine for his wife after returning from the southern shore where another burial site lay. Miriamele, Kai, and Marius spoke not a word to one another on the hike back, instead taking the moment to listen to The Emerald Stair begin to wake with the first fingers of sunshine slicing through the darkened sky.

I'm pretty sure even Ultima Underworld (1992) had a better physics engine already—you could throw an item, like a stone, and it would fall, roll, and behave naturally. In Avowed, from what I see in the video, arrows don't even fall back properly, and there's hardly anything interactive. It seems like the design philosophy here is railroading, with no player agency, just enforcing the message.

I think today it's more about using the gamedev industry (and Hollywood too) to create outlets for propaganda... rather than producing anything of value
(doesn't matter what you produce, what matters is the propaganda and conforming to DEI guidelines)
Yes. There is. Even in Serbia. Both my younger sister and I are programmers. She's among rare, good ones. They exist, they always existed. But there is simply not enough of them for whole industry. No amount of social engineering can change thatThat reminds me that there is a woman quota in IT nowadays regardless of their competence. honk honk
I'm not surprised it was done eventually.I read a basic plot synopsis out of boredom.I want a tl;dr of the story.
Are the fundamentals good and can it be salvaged?
The game actually shits on it's own cosmology.
Basicallythe whole "gods must be created by ancient magics and whether that's a good thing or not" deal is completely destroyed due to the fact an actual naturally made god pops up (that's what you are a godlike of). The manufactured gods took offense to that and walled up the poor bastard and there's some evil magic fungus scourge leaking out of the cage
Like, what the fuck was the point of the previous two games if you're going to do that?!

But it completely goes against the inherent nature of Pillars setting: the world is meaningless without purpose or some greater aim, it just exists. Eothas is a deity made to care, so he goes wild against the nihilism, first with the Saints War, then seeking to break the Wheel. He rebels against the nihilism but doesn't change the fact that the nihilism exists.Hmmm, does not sound that bad in my opinion
It reminds me of a furry flukeman:This looks like a rubber sex doll that's someone poured glue on and rolled in cat's fur.![]()
What?? This is what orlans are supposed to look like?!
