It will probably cover its productions costs and earn some profits. The question is will Microsoft be happy with such returns.
I have strong doubts this will even cover its budget from the actual sales. Steam numbers are pathetic so far and I do not expect them to rise meaningfully by release day.
And I do not see this game getting lot of new gamepass subs for MS either.

This game is shit. But the question is. What is shittier?
  • No Cipher, Druid, etc abilities
  • The dumbed down trees for the only 3 classes
  • The writing
  • The UI
  • The lack of Blunderbuss, crossbows and polearms
  • Or what.
What is the worst decline in this game?

14-something years ago, the Codex used to cheer Obsidian showing Todd how it's done.
And if my grandma had wheels she'd be a bicycle.
What is this supposed to mean?
Granted, it sounded better in my head. But what happened 14 years ago doesn't matter. Bethesda remained consistently shitty, Obsidian took a plunge off a cliff. Maybe it is a bit fucked up when one says it, but Bethesda is better than Obsidian.

Seeing that Obsidian fanboys will buy anything and Veilguard numbers showing there is still a lot of people with low standards so I still believe that in few months they will manage to cover its budget and get in positive.

But as I said how will that be received by Microsoft and how long will they support a developer that only releases mid, barely profitable games is another thing.

Played this for a couple of hours. There was not a single exciting thing about it. It sucks when I'm not even able to hate on the game, it's just so bland.

If it pushes gamepass numbers up it'll be fine

It won't. It is thoroughly unexciting release, very few people are gonna sub for it. And even those that do, most will unsub.

Veilguard with its 1.5 million "players" is extremely far from profitability, Avowed will be similar case. They will also boast similar number of "players" while the game will be deep in red for months, possibly for ever.

- highlighting every thing you can pick up on the minimap radar
- your combat depends largely on your gear upgrades rather than on your actual actions
- treasures make a certain sound when you are near them
- chests have different colours - blue, purple, yellow according to their rarity
- no option to equip stuff for your companions
- niggers and females EVERYWHERE

I don't think nowadays Bethesda has what it takes to replicate Skyrim success, it's a general downgrade in the industry.

So now that Obsidian aren't constricted by Bethesda's shitty framework and strict deadlines, will they start making technically polished games, yes?
