Insert Title Here Pathfinder: Wrath
That Solasta UI looks like a WIP. What. the. fuck.

Arcanum has one of my favorite UIs when it comes to blending the setting into the interface. Basically give me an UI that I can reasonably tie to a distinct RPG as opposed to a racing simulator.

This looks like Diablo knock-off

We were in trouble. Project seemed to be going nowhere. Morale was low. Everything was falling apart.

But then, I decided to spell Vampire as Fampyr, and it changed everything.

See, I honestly think this style of UI would be easily replicable even today, simply by using textures.

Every game has textures. They're on the walls, the floors, the ceilings. Just slap a woodgrain texture on an UI element and it will look almost as good as Arcanum's wooden elements here.
Then just add a golden border around the elements and you're good. Most of the golden borders here don't even have a complex texture, just a bit of gradient or bevel.

All the people who claim it's impossible to make an UI like this when considering scaling for different modern resolutions never manage to explain why.
Why would just slapping a woodgrain texture as a background not work?
Why can't you use fancy golden borders with simple effects like gradient and bevel, which fucking Photoshop can apply automatically, to surround your interface elements? Goddamn Windows XP managed to have that, and it never had any issues with resolution scaling! On resizeable windows, no less!

But no, modern UI designers seem to be incapable of the simplest solutions.

I still think Owlcat has the best UI design among modern RPG developers. No space is wasted, everything is easy to read and the layout is familiar to anyone who has played the classics. It scales nicely with all resolutions and is even easy to navigate with a controller.
Other than Owlcat, Warhorse deserves praise on their UI design, for the same reasons I mentioned. The excuse that Solasta devs used sounds like bullshit, they just need better UI designers.

I'd say Pillars games had the best UI, it was a good marriage between modern and classic style. Minimalistic where it needs to be, but fancy where possible.

No idea wtf they are doing with Avowed.

Worst UI offender is definitely Larian though.

About wizard abilities, will they add some cool illusion spells, cool transmutation spells, cool conjuration spells for summoning weapons and creatures or Wizards will be the generic "magicak artillery" only dude?

I rather ask myself why these idiots not just one time make their audience happy and just make a fucking open world game

It’s like they have a humiliation fetish or something

They promise a BG clone and when people get hyped they do some other shit. Than they hype people up with Skyrim and do their own shit again nobody wants. Guess what you fuckers you are not some grand artists. Just make games people want to play
I'm gonna assume on age, this began as a Unreal 4 game and Unreal 5 was the first one to really be made for open worlds on a fundamental level. The CDPR tech partnership is strategic to make it even better in that regard.

Outer Worlds 2 has no real excuse but Avowed does.

Excellent question. I guess that will be the difference between a generic fps fantasy jank game and something that could potentially have some fun twists on the genre and prove to be an interesting game somehow.

I hope they forgo balance for once and lets us have fun stuff like domination spell that permanently makes one creature you thrall until it dies or you replace it with another.
Than you can also add a battle where enemy wizard dispels control over the thrall that then wants revenge and same spell does not work on it.

Obisidan kept hyping up Skyrim so chances are its going to be janky and boring just like Skyrim. I honestly wouldn't put much stock in Obsidian even being able to make good first person combat let alone an engaging magic system. Besides Fallout: New Vegas I can't remember any good first person games they made.

Well, looking at the skill tree I doubt there's any room for more spells after fireball, icebolt, lightning and their variations...

Sounds so boring, a lesser magic missile has 15 seconds cooldown... Seems like they are trying really hard to make magic as boring as possible.
