That's the thing, Obsidian's heyday is one game. As a whole Obsidian has always been a studio that appeals to a niche audience. Bioware has a bigger track record of successes and a bigger fan base.
Knights of the Old Republic 2, New Vegas, South Park, The Outer Worlds sold millions. Today's Bioware is a zombie studio that hasn't had a success in 10 years.
The thing with Obs vs Bioware or Obs vs some other big name RPG studio is their games at least look to be AAA quality from get go, even that Failguard from "today's zombie studio Bioware" does. Where as Awoken looks to be barely breaking AA quality. Obs always was and always will be technically inept evidently and this is why people initially get taken aback when seeing such comparisons between Obs vs other technically competent studious, why we/some of us think Bioware is the bigger name(they probably have the much bigger studio) with the bigger fan base, where as NV's fan base probably single handedly rivals or beats ME + DA fan base.

Also Grounded has no value in this comparison; small indie devs/1 man devs have bigger successes with survival games. It has no effect on RPG dev Obsidian's rep.

Veilguard has a much bigger team. Avowed has a core team of 100. Bioware was over 100 back when they did Mass Effect.

For big AAA games they've definitely always been technically inept, but Grounded and Deadfire look great and highly polished within their own genre.

And budgetwise, does Avowed also have a larger one than TOW? Given how limited the scope of everything is with Avowed, seems like they're trying to play it extremely safe if that's the case (in terms of releasing an equally stable and feature complete game).
With more employees and more years in development, obviously.

Nobody's going to even mention the fact that the dwarf is an archer?

You need long arms for archery, especially with medieval era tech.

This is why dwarfs are usually either shown with crossbows or guns in most media.

Way to fail every step of the way, man. Just like Dragon Age.

There's nothing mechanical that prevents dwarfs from using bows in any Pillars or D&D game. :M

In fact, considering Sagani, you are literally a decade late with this criticism.

Dwarven bows use air pressure to fire.

Dwarves are just built different. Whatever they lack in leverage they compensate via muscle density.

Was it ever mentioned in Pillars that dwarves have shorter arms? Sure, they have short legs, but their proportions seem to be different. They certainly don't suffer from shorter range in melee, so most likely they resemble apes more, with short legs and long arms.

And obviously they don't lack in upper body strength and contrary to what D&D tells us, that's the most important stat for an archer, especially with composite bow.

Manual says they're "short and thick limbed." Doesn't say anything about gorilla arms.

Even with shorter limbs, they have the +2 racial strength bonus to compensate for lack of leverage.
