I got a good 20 hours in with AoD after purchasing it a few days ago. Teron is gaming perfection. Maadoran was a little less polished I found. I'm kind of kicking myself for getting the early access, should have waited until it's done. Too much stuff missing.

Also, I accidentally created a non-combat character first, and spoiled a bunch of stuff for myself. Non-combat playthrough is waaaaaaaaaaay too easy.

Vault Dweller why isn't your game Muslim friendly?

So far I've really loved the game. Interesting setting, cool NPC's, and great combat system. However, I noticed that on the table and underneath a candle in Feng's house there is a page of what is very noticably the Quran. It's really dissapointing to see this in a video game (and it's happened before with Diablo III). Please, is there any way I could ask for such representions to be removed they are seen as disrespectful. All the rest of the Islamic motif's where really awesome btw, its one of the reasons I bought the game.

Vince, you need to listen to your customers. Clearly he is upset that the representation of the Quran is too small. Please remove it and add bigger Qurans to appease muslims.

Imo displaying a screen of pre-new game text that says something like:

"The world of AoD is not what you are used to in a fantasy RPG: it is harsh, unforgiving, blah de blah scheming and murder blah blah. Unlike in many other games, you are not an invincible hero. You are not special. All combat is extremely dangerous and potentially lethal; if something looks dangerous, it probably is dangerous, and you should treat it as such. Characters will not hesitate to lie to you, steal from you, or betray you, should they see fit. Use your head, be careful what you say, and always look out for yourself, because no one else will."

Very well done, I think that should help alot.
The only major thing left with respect to informing the players about the game's idiosyncrasies, would now be imho something similar during character generation for spreading points too thinly over too many skills.

I don't think you can use others' trademarks (Superman and kryptonite) like that in your game.

I was surprised to see those in there as well. The Siegel estate are notoriously protective when it comes to their copyright - if they get wind of this they may be assholes about it, since it is being sold for money and all.

He fucked up the combat (if only!) with full consciousness. At least he admits it.

It's not really in the game. It's a casual reference used before the game even starts, but if they complain about it, we'll remove it.

It just dawned on me that nearly every other mission in Age of Decadence has my character robbing, extorting, bribing or assassinating people. Why is everybody so evil in Rome?

Because being a nice guy and involved in politics are mutually exclusive.

I just wish I could approach the game from a Machiavellian-utilitarian perspective. I don't see the incentive in hoarding rewards for yourself (as a character) if society is literally collapsing around you. (I was still having fun with the early access though.)

I know, is the game great or what? Although I guess it's more morally acceptable to kill a couple of thousands of monsters and take their shit (Thou shalt not hurt another innocent, die evil Dragon! Afterwards I'll help myself to your shiny hoard of course).

Hey, I had an idea for an advertisement. Show like a nun, and she is all holy and proper. You then show her sneak to a computer and soon she starts playing AoD. You then show her doing all this horrible murder in the game with an evil smile on her face. Finally , you end with the line....All the fun of Decadence.

Well...you can pay the gate guards to save some refugees.
Their leader will reward you with a decent armor, and if your have some points in honesty, he'll even tell you about a secret loot.
So far that's the only outcome I saw that reward honesty and generosity, though the loot is not in demo, so you could be screwed over later anyway.
But hey the armor is still pretty good for 150 imperials. (and the hammer is also good, should you choose to kill him instead)

The most efficient way of playing the game is always to take as many opportunities you have to maximize your spoils. This would not necessarily be a bad thing in itself if you were nonetheless acknowledged some alternatives. The guild plot-lines are fun but is there any central difference to a character's potential motivations for joining the Thieves or Merchants (etc.) seeing as how most factions are in it for fun and profit expanding their guild's influence? In contrast, your character in New Vegas, for example, has a pretty clear idea of what the main factions intend to do and the player is given the opportunity of adding his own motivations into play for helping the people (s)he chose to.
