Hmmmm I think you just go door to door in town and one of the residents won't be a creepy dude shouting at you to go away and he'll have a clue. Write your clues down when you find one. Then you can either focus on that or wander around and see what you run into either on the road or in other towns.

Nice. Cool map.

I might have to start with reading the manual or watching a tutorial. I don't know what any of these symbols in the UI mean and hovering over with the mose gives nothing.

I was wandering around, got my purse stolen two times, got shouted at by some guy to leave his house, a boy told me my shoes are open and I was in jail 3 times for accidently breaking into houses so far

Oh yeah you are right I had clues. Some woman was talking to me about some Adventure group that died looking for the Sword. And another gal that I should go and protect them from the Orcs. This must be what you mean right

You might only be able to do it in taverns? It's the little hand icon to use talents. Download the pdf of the manual, it has pictures of all the icons and blurbs next to them

Sounds awsome.

Btw who is the leader of my group? Just who I put into the first spot? Or who I chose first when I started the game in the temple?

Because for some reason I came out the Inn and the only person drunk was Konstantin, though he can take a beer and he was all the way back the right of the party

So I explored the city a bit. The taverns are and collecting clues in them is really nice. Also the cheating people out of money with the rogue there is fun and even letting my elve dance for money (I'm guessing the Instrument skill uses also the dance skill? There's only one skill in the menu or is there a key to scroll)

As expected the UI is really clunky for me. I try to not give up and get into it. I don't really understand why I can not move on the map like in a rogue game, everything looks the same anyway and it would spare me a lot of trouble opening and closing the map all the time. Is there some hotkeys? For example for bringing the map up.

I found a dungeon quest in town and currently I'm looking for a something to light the torches I bought because it's dark as hell in there. The navigation problems make even this a task. I might have to set up some external Autohotkeys, so I can move on WASD it's really weird unhandy using the cursors.

Combat is pretty cool. I can confirm my paralyze spell works really good as I already managed to make my Fighter into a Stonestatue on accident as iny first turn of combat, resulting in me getting assclapped. It's really weird Archers and Mages can't shoot/cast diagonal. Is this a rule in DSA? lol

Anyway I try to get used to this and holding out. I dig the writing so far and the atmosphere.

Wait a fuckin tinderbox does not light a torch? It does just say "nothing happens" when I try to use it

Man these boomer rpg's are something else... I spend like 30 minutes finding a shop selling a tinderbox lmao

When i play these really old games, I usually have it open in a window on like the top left of the screen and then another window open underneath with a map and the hint book that I can click back and forth to. You can even keep a map poking out so it's like having a minimap. ROA hint book has town maps if you need them. You get used to walking in game and keeping track of where you are on the grid pretty quickly. Second game adds diagonal shooting.

I reall dig the writing of this. In a perfect world we would have the writing and systems of games like this combined with the graphics and quality of life of something like PoE :negative:

Damn I made it all the way through the wilderness to Phaecaer. Lost like 3 pair of pants and half my weapons in a swamp and nearly died two times climbing and hunting some exoctic big game hunt. All while not able to save for hours. I also got my first alchemy recipe from some Elve. Crazy how much engagement this game gets out me from so little. I wish modern game had writing and systems like these.

Anyway I'm getting new equipment now as they have a armor smith. I can't really find stats on the armors...? Whats the good stuff? Straight plate armor for all my warriors? Because it looks like chainmail is by far the most expensive. Also what to get for elve, hunter and rogue? Should I straight decide per price? Oh I see now. These are different body part pieces. Pretty low weight limit for characters with 13 str though. I struggle putting on even a Board, Sword, Armor, Helmet and some Rations in the bags.

Keep in mind that heavy armor reduces your accuracy which can be a problem right at the start of the game when your dudes have bad accuracy. But it's also very powerful so it can be a good tradeoff too. All the modifier values are in the hint book.

Ah I see... damn man. I have exactly one save before buying the armor but arriving after my trip to hell... I might keep it if I regret my purchase.

Mate do you remember the quest with in the Brothel in Phexcaer? When I enter there I can ask for the Hyggelik's decendant. The brothel master fag tells me to meet me two houses north in 30 minutes. I went to the location that should be most likely it. I tried to enter directly, house is locked. I tried waiting, I tried breaking in. I tried going around. Nothing seemed to work. I don't even know if he means 30 ingame minutes or realtime.

Did you manage to do that quest by any chance? I restarted the quest now and measure the time.

Yeah fuck it. I buy some smarter combinations based on this list and probably as good as nothing for my ranged fighters.

That's a damn shame man. Luckily I didn't play much more since I bought all that stuff...

Money is no object, don't worry too much about money. I don't remember any of the quests btw. Except the unicorn quest, if you have trouble with that FUCKING unicorn then I can help you out with that. Otherwise the hint book and scrolling through ancient FAQs like a cyber wizard is what you've got to do.

Yeah but... When I see how much my attack rating suffers. That sucks hard man. Might as well buy some leather bracers that have no penality and only a chainmail that loses some parry. Just go about it smarter. Money is so long no problem until I lose all my gear in a swamp again and I spend it all on some armor I can't use anyway.
