Not sure what is my favorite weapon in RPGs. But I know what kind of weapon I really don't like in games: fists. I mean, you're literally punching heavy armored knight with your bare hands. That's beyond stupid.
Yeah, we can say it's some kind of a magic martial art, but it's absolutely illogical. If you can punch a hole through a person with your fist, imagine what you could do with this same person with something more solid - like, sword, for example!
I think the idea of adding monk class to D&D wasn't the best.

Not only that, but using the character's fists also prevents that char from equiping and trying out all kinds of weapons. What good is the loot for anyway? Picking a class which relies mostly on bare hands has to be one of the most boring decisions in a rpg i can imagine. Because of this, introducing monks into D&D just really seemed like a massive fail decision.

Makes more sense grappling than striking, at least on heavy plate.

That's assuming the loot is always inseparable from the character though.

All class choices should be at the discretion of the DM and based on the campaign setting. If you're playing Dark Sun, Psionics are allowed. If you're playing some homebrew Jade Empire setting, Monks are allowed. If you're playing Forgotten Realms, get a new tabletop group.

Charm is my favourite weapon for sure. But I also like traps. The magic fire rune trap thing in Skyrim was promising. And the ice on the floor in Dark Messiah making stuff fall off cliffs is chefkiss.

I like it when monsters kill each other or walk into trap rooms and die.
Dark Souls' Sen's Fortress area is great for that, it is as much avoiding the traps as leveraging them to defeat the enemies.
The boss arena is surrounded by precipices. The boss is a giant who tries to grab you to hurl you out of the arena. If you hit his feet he will fall backward, and he can thus fall out of the arena if he is close to the edge, instantly killing him.

A bit of unfair criticism since you will always give up on some loot, the warrior with the big club doesn't have to justify why he's renouncing to every cool bow, shield, wand he might find. Not to mention the guy who specializes in gnomiesh hook hammers, who is certainly not finding interesting new varieties often.

In Everquest the Enchanter class (and some others) could charm creatures which was super powerful, but the duration was random... which was super dangerous. If charms breaks while it is fighting something you now have 2 enemies on you. But at the higher levels you could Dire Charm something which would last forever, but the creature was limited to level 50. So people would make a second character and get it to level 50 to know exactly what enemies were good targets to perma charm. Then you charm the creature and give it lots of buffs, hp, ac, haste, etc. You could even give it an illusion, then it would fight for you. It was supposed to be balanced by the fact that Enchanters have no way to heal the pet, but if the second character you made was a healer, you can just keep healing your pet and keep it alive forever. Clerics also got a spell called Complete Heal which healed 100% hp but took ages to cast. But if you spammed that on the creature it would keep it topped up.

Later we found some huge Bone Dragons that were exactly level 50 and one of those as a pet was awesome. So much hp it gave plenty of time to keep healing it while it slaughtered everything.

Where is "arming sword" aka "knightly sword"? When you see a weapon in a CRPG called simply a "sword" it probably refers to that. So no (arming/knightly) sword in the poll, that's silly. I suppose in some/many CRPGs "long sword" for some reason is used in its place which is weird because a long sword is a different, bigger kind of sword.
I vote "sword".

Huge 2h hammers, 2h swords or just normal swords. I also like to mace enemies in the face from time to time. Cestus is cool but rarely utilized in games.

Bastard Sword because Conan.
Great Sword because having a blade that can fucking cleave a man in half is METAL.
Great Axe because it's hard to argue against a big hunk of metal ready to decapitate fools left and right.
