All I'm gonna say, is that Souls games made me feel joy with games again. However, I do think people who praise the level design of 1 only played until the O&S fight lol

I would rate DS1 from S to F :
  • Till O&S = S tier (almost perfect with some flaws like Capra demon)
  • Gravelord Nito, Seath and four kings = A+ tier (not as good as before but still great)
  • Lost Izalith = B- tier (fells a bit rushed)
  • Bed of Chaos = F-- tier / Sekiro tier (full of BS and your build doesn't matter)
  • Gwyn = A
  • DLC = A+ (Kalameet is one of the best dragon fights ever)
Now, much of the hate towards DS2 is completely unfair. Sure, if you wanna use an longsword and nothing else, locking into every single enemy, it sucks, however, if you wanna use an halberd, hexes, and other cool stuff, it is amazing. And people who complain about DS2 bosses, does DS2 lacks some memorable bosses like DS1 had? Sure, but DLC's fixed it and only by not having Bed of Chaos, makes the bosses better IMO. Also, there are a lot of cool optional bosses, like Darklurker.

Sadly, they ran out of funds and time, so the endgame areas (think of an equivalent of Boletarian palace 1-4) ended up being an utter shite, with lots of recycled content and copy-pasted placeholder encounters.
The first time i played through lost izalith i thought I was playing modder content.
