It's time of the year again and we should discuss which is best soundtrack and why! DiSCuSsssssssss!!!!

1. Name a youtube video/playlist of soundtrack from a game.
2. Sound, so file with visual component is no more advantageous than file without.
3. Check rule one

May the best game win

I really like Arcanum soundtrack. Melancholic, sad, languishing... It grasps so well this feeling of desolation. The lamentations of a dying world. Plus, I have a soft spot for stringed instruments. And Arcanum was my first cRPG, what a blast it was.

I think I may have reached, without hesitation, for a low-hanging, yet blasphemous fruit here. But really, I could redo my pick a dozen times and it'd still end up in the general vicinity - if not Vagrant Story, then another Sakimoto soundtrack, or a Mitsuda soundtrack, or an Uematsu soundtrack, or maybe a Naruke or Shimomura. On and on it goes - SNES- to PSX era JRPGs had such an overwhelming glut of talent attached to them when it came to music. I keep wondering why that is, but I think that the Japanese, developing on consoles, could take advantage very early on of having a single sound chip to write music on, whereas contemporary PCs had a multitude so writing good music was that much harder and less of a priority. So by the time CDs came in and games had proper audio tracks, PC games would have voice acting, so they'd tend to mainly have ambient soundtracks and only a handful of good tracks, whereas the Japanese already had developed a genre and culture out of videogame music.

But even if that weren't the case, Vagrant Story's soundtrack is amazing.

The Banner Saga has an absolutely amazing soundtrack that I actually think carried the game in many ways. Second game is also good but not as good as the first I think.

Child of Light has some amazing themes also. This one is my favorite from it.

Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Insert Title Here
There are games that have a better song or piece of music at a given point. Judging a whole soundtrack though, it's Gothic 3 for me.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.

If only the game was as good.

Edit: also watch the intro, it alternates between tracks.
