What are some RPGs with Universal Character Death?

I've been recently playing Corpus Edax: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2017610/CORPUS_EDAX/

This little game some how manages to feature Universal Character Death, meaning you can kill any NPC and still continue the game. So I was wondering:

What are some other games that feature this mechanic?

Off the top of my head, I know Morrowind allows you to kill anybody, but if you kill important NPCs you can lock yourself out of the main quest. Corpus Edax, seemingly, is not like that. could kill anyone and still find a way to complete the game.

I think in recent years, Larian games feature UCD and so do both Pillars of Eternity games.

This is the only redeeming quality of The Outer Worlds.

F1, F2, Arcanum? I think newer Larian trash also allows this.

Man, that's what happened, huh? I looked for it and couldn't figure it out.
Actually, Black Souls II is a good RPG. I'm playing it without sex scenes and it's fantastic. Got you to thank for that.

It even managed to fix some of Dark Souls flaws, like all the garbage you pick up. In BS2 the colored souls you pick up, permanently increase your stats. Wow. Didn't realize perfection could be improved.

Fallout 1 allows you to kill absolutely everything too.
If this counts, then tons and tons and tons of other games count, too.

It may look like it, but no, you can’t harm anyone you wish, unless we include exploit usage and cutscenes. You lose the game if you attack V13 / Arroyo rulers, even if you caused 0 damage, in the classic Fallouts. If you just saved the game, and you’re using a single save slot, then the game is now unfinishable.

And if you’re playing a censored game, there’s multiple characters you can never aim while combat mode is turned on.

Game ends if you open fire on or start a fight with your fellow Vault 13 dwellers.
Other than that, you can whack everyone you want.
Same in Fallout 2.
Arroyo tribe members are verboten from being harmed.

Arcanum truly allows you to massacre everyone if you fancy playing a genocidal maniac (I never tried it, maybe one day).
You can even kill Nasrudin on Thanatos and you will be banished by him to the Void endgame area. If you have sided with K'an Hua and the Dark Elves, same deal, you kill him and then BAM, you are sent to the Void.

Technically you can kill off V13 dwellers if you rat them to mutant fucks. I dont remember if you can blow up oil rig along with your idiot tribesmen. Probably not.

I finished Arcanum as a barbarian and npcs always threw insults at me so i murdered them for it like the edgy king. It was very short playthrough because i quickly become hated in every city leaving nothing else to do other than to finish the game. :smug:

Yeah, you get unique reactions from Npcs if you are wearing Barbarian Armor.

You can in the first Exile/Avernum and the first Geneforge. I'm not sure if you can in the sequels.

In both games the minimum you need to do is escape.

You can kill everyone in Arx Fatalis and still complete the game.

For real? I played it at least three times but never went on a killing spree.
Yes, everything needed for the critical path (destroy the meteor, forge the ultimate weapon, get to the big boss and poke him) can either be looted from a corpse or is waiting in a chest for you to steal it. Locked doors and chests tend to have a key somewhere and unlike in many other RPGs you can loot the entire store inventory after you kill a shopkeeper. You should in theory even be able to figure out what you need to do just from notes/books and exploration. The game is pretty well protected against painting yourself into a corner in general - even if you waste all scrolls and your character is a dum dum that never put any points in Mental you should be able to cast all spells required to complete the game by level 5 at the latest (provided you found the runes of course).

Doesn't New Vegas tag the allied generals tagged Essential during the Hoover Dam sequence because Obsidian didn't want to write story permutation for player turning against their allies at the very last minute?

Yep. I'm playing Black Souls and liking a bit. Is nothing spetacular, but is not bad either.

About games that allow you to kill everyone, I know htat many people hate but in G3 you can literally kill everyone.

Morrowind has a scripted, back-door method of completing the main quest by killing Vivec to acquire Wraithguard and then seeking help from the Last Living Dwarf, and it's possible to complete the main quest even without that (check speedruns).

People where only discussing Black Souls in that thread. No one mentioned other game. Anyway, what I really liked that the game is that the main villain is a equality cultist and nothing brought more misery and suffering IRL than this cult , dialog bellow.

Yes!!!

And the soul of Vivec can be used to make very powerful enchantment.

Other game that allow you to kill everything adn everyone is Gothic 1 but only in late game. Pre sleeper's temple.
