Lunacy of Caen: Todd Reaver
Brother None's avatar pretty much fits what I feel like doing when I try to sift through some of those threads for good points to agree with.
Maps in Wasteland are divided into fields of flexible size. Generally, moving from field to field takes certain amount of time. For example on interior maps move takes 15 seconds, on town maps it takes 30 seconds. There can be whole party on one field. So, it's not a 1:1 representation like in skirmish games like ToEE or JA2 or Pool of Radiance but more like in tactical game where you have whole teams and fields representing larger terrain.By field he means square. ie. a 'man' on the grid map represents a squad.
By grid map, you mean a sector, I presume? You can put everyone in the same sector.
ah... i see he still didnt get to the last example of very deep and prestigious one liner:
"I would most gladly see Fallout Tactics combat system where I would be able to set speed in real-time mode"

Could some guys that actually played and liked Wasteland pile-in here?
It seems that the forum is dominated by Troika fanboys who want IGO-UGO skirmish combat. They could use some old-school counterweight.

Although it seems they have decided to go towards turn based combat, there is still a semi unresolved possibility of a tacked on RT.
Nothing beats having an inside-man.Although it seems they have decided to go towards turn based combat, there is still a semi unresolved possibility of a tacked on RT.
Hah, no way. If this game features RT even as an alternate I will wash my hands off it completely. That's exactly the kind of publisher-enforced bullshit that ruins game balance.
The question on how TB will work is very open though. I have no idea if it'll be more like one-character-at-a-time like Fallout or more phase-based like Wasteland. Should be interesting to see what ideas they have, and I'm definitely bringing this TB thread of Hiver's to Fargo's attention.
I expect a turn-based, party-based, isometric post-apocalyptic RPG, dur.
I just hope they're not gonna try to cash-in on the whole Bioware romance craze, but something tells me that Mr. Fargo won't blatantly throw it in, especially with all the strong feedback.
Btw, can you make polls Brother None?
Brother None, aren't you afraid 'the enemy' will see you posting in this thread and accuse you of having a bias while moderating?

Not really? My opinions are well-documented, it's not exactly a secret what my perspective on this kind of stuff is. Besides, I'm hardly "siding with the Codex", or anything.
And yes, from InXile's perspective too, stuff like "how do we make turn-based combat better" or discussions on the mood and perspective are a lot more helpful than that goddamn LGBTQ thread.
It's just that if I were lobbying for LBGT marriages and housing I'd totally complain about you not taking me seriously.
