You can't really buy into moderating privileges or censorship immunity.

Sweet pains of a birth, eh? Its already much better over there.
And reporting or flagging posts actually works now.

Yip, getting there. Still catching up so if there's old shit to flag, do so. Just now got around to banning Ubermensch and removing his threads.

At very least, you could have ordered a basement with a sect of fat homosexual slashfic fantards worshipping a hermaphroditic cult leader named Hamburger-Priestly, who have to be mandatorily slaughtered in the course of the main plot. Better yet, hired some crack addicted nigger to do the same IRL, that would probably end up way cheaper.

I can live without ambience and atmosphere. But all too many people on WL2 forums demand shit like romances and 2d sprites having characters (thus they must not die) - while not caring about what's truly important for RPG - character systems and combat since that's 80%+ of any RPG.

That is just few people who had requesting retarded shit, and plenty of plenty that bash them so it wouldn't look like most people support it, they loose every poll.

Do you see discussion about character systems?

And that means that Wasteland 2 developers don't think about it? You understand that the game isn't actually being developed on they forums right?

Just stick to the game mechanics boards. There's little trolling there, and that's the part that really matters anyway. The writing will be done by inXile and I doubt there's reason to worry about a few nutjobs who want an interactive soap opera

It could also be that you (and others) overestimate (or would that be underestimate?) Fargo's ambitions regarding fan input.

I hope the writers have some truly interesting ideas and adventures in mind, so it won't be a generic post-apocalyptic rehash.

Yeah the Game Mechanics forum is by far the most rational. I stopped reading the Must Include forum a few days ago.

What if devs think about romances first?

Or I take it they created suggestion forums just for lulz. They see "how about this gameplay feature" thread getting to 2 pages and they see "add gay characters" getting to 50 - so what do they think is more important to their "investors"?

They also want to get some profit from the game you know. Forums being besieged by Bioware Social while all Codex members do is make and reply in meme threads won't give them the right idea.

If they are making a proper RPG in the first place at all.

Just because the threat has 50 pages it doesn't mean that the idea is wanted, vast majority on they forums vote against those ideas so what they are supposed to think? That the idea that is strongly opposed to, must be the one that most people want? Fortunately the likelihood of them being on your intellectual level is close to 0. Also they forum is also open to everybody now.

They also want to get some profit from the game you know. Forums being besieged by Bioware Social while all Codex members do is make and reply in meme threads won't give them the right idea.

Yet they loose every poll?

PS: if this game is as good as Fallout 2, all its flaws included, I'll be dancing a jig.
Well... Fallout 2 was a very good game despite the flaws because it was a straight sequel to a great game. Wasteland 2 is a brand new game.

Don't get me wrong. I am craving a good PA game. Besides, there is a lot more at stake here. Fargo succeeds - it opes the door for everyone. He fails - we are all fucked.

However, I don't want to just sit and hope that the game will be great just because the universe owes me at least that much (or because Fallout 2 turned out ok). The best way to help is by criticizing and challenging. No?

imagine a shitty retardo game with a codex memorial - lulz incoming...

personally i am hoping for some sort of editing tools to correct what they did wrong or to expand what they did right.

I'm hoping that it will be mediocre (as opposed to terrible). I may not even bother to play it. My primary reason for contributing money is that I am excited by the method of funding games without a publisher. I also liked the idea of getting a Codex statue put in.

Criticizing and challenging is fine as long as codexers can keep themselves from giving in to their base instincts and (rightly) accuse the tards of being tards. That just triggers the "Well, that's just, like, your opinion mate, don't hate on mine just because you have something against people who want a proper roleplaying experience  " responses instead of making them understand why their shit is unwanted.

I think they would at least open the thread to see if it isn't just a flame war between five guys, instead of taking a glance at the number of pages and going "yeah, time to make eveyone bi".

I know it will hurt my guerrilla bros over there but seriously the best way if you have to engage them at all is to just state as rationally as possible why you think their bullshit feature takes unnecessary resources from the game and is therefore unfeasible on a bang for man-hours buck basis, and then finish with a pithy variation on "I know you believe in what you're saying but this has always been my view on the matter. I'll agree to disagree here."

If they start screaming about discrimination or rose colored glasses and closemindedness or try and bait you by repeating themselves but with more exaggerated points, whatever, let the moderators handle it, the one at fault in these cases will definitely not end up being you.

They won't understand.

I don't expect them to. The boards were made so that Fargo and co get feedback from the fanbase, not as a means to enlighten the sheeple.
Just stick to what meltdown said, otherwise it's just counter-productive
