Didn't think i will ever say it, but Siege of Dragonspear was better game than Tyranny...:negative:
lmao what the hell is this retarted opinion. I havent played sod but those conversation snippets that got posted everywhere. Nothing can beat that in term of awfulness.

You're crazy if you think tyranny is worse than that.

Tyranny got semi decent writing at dialogue going and and the setting as pretty great. Sure it has flaw, but literally putting it below beamdog turd is just retarted

SoD has better combat is something I believe I can safely say without having played either.

On a purely storyfag level maybe, but Dragonspear had some some actually interesting fights and a bestiary that didn't make me miss the IWD2 orc hordes.

he idea that Arcanum companions had more interjections and overall content than Tyranny's is just..
Well, imagine, I think PoE companions are even worse. Maybe they start to bloom in act 3, but i got bored on the 'insane paladin castle' part.

I've noticed folk keep sayin Tranny has a good setting, is this explored, are there cultures, dialects, distinct modes o dress, characters who represent cultures an all other shit that makes a well simulated setting?

People speak the same language, but this is actually addressed in dialogue. There is one case I know of where different script or perhaps different than mainstream language is involved. People also use the same currency everywhere, that is also addressed. Characters of different cultures tend to dress differently, but that is more connected with factions I guess more than everything else. So, yeah, setting is somewhat fleshed out, but only in necessary capacity.

Arcanum has only three companions who get any kind of narrative content after being recruited and all three have far less than any one of PoE's.

Think you're wrong there Roguey, Zan Alurin has a fair bit on interaction wi Arronax an on tryin to enter Qintarra, Torian Kel at Kree an in Void, Virgil constant, Geoffrey has interaction at Ancient Temple an in Tulla an Void, thats just off top o me head. I've hear Magnus an Dwarf King has a fair bit an all.

That fucking ascension hall battle is lols.

4 people against 3 archers and 3 mages Fifth Eye. How the fuck is this even possible.

EDIT: Just beat it. I think it was luck, a timely stasis shield potion fight before my PC got stunned, and the enemy wasted everything on that stasis.

Fucking game.

Lore/athletics/subterfuge check = 2 people less to fight.

Still hard and still out numbered.

Seriously I'd love a surefire way to beat this with any type of PC. So far my experience with this fight is a hail mary. I want to see a archer or unarmed PC do this fight.

The tactic is to survive long enough for one of them to die, then it starts getting easier. Either way, that fight is very annoying and one-sided. My PC was a tank, so his offensive capabilities were nil, an archer or unarmed PC would do better. You should probably also build Barik up to be a tank, with that AoE taunt thing, so Lantry can survive the first 10 seconds. I actually didn't have the AoE taunt on my PC, because I thought engagement would suffice, but mobs constantly break engagement and even kill themselves on engagement attacks trying to get to Lantry.

The only Arcanum NPC who has close to BioWare/Obsidian levels of interaction with the PC, other NPCs and interjections during quests/events - is Virgil. A couple of others, like Magnus and Raven, have some as well, but significantly less than him.

If you think of it, Arcanum, despite being more than 15 years old, had more companion interactions.

Maybe in Bizarro world. Don't get me wrong, Arcanum has a bunch of BA companions (like Gar) and they have some interesting comments here or there, but other than Virgil (and a few others), they barely had anything to say other than unless you were doing their questline.

The range of enemy types in Tyranny is smaller than any crpg I can think of. You get Human (Ranged, melee, caster), Beastmen, Bane, and a handful of unique boss battles. That's some meagre pickings right there.

Neither game is just purely dialogue, however, and Tyranny has both a terrible combat system and shitty encounter design. SoD combat on the other hand is fun (nowhere near SCS level, but better than original BG).

Arcanum does more with less and has it's priorities right. It's better to add a companion quest that sprawls across whole game continent than 50 lines of dialogue you can exhaust by just clicking on them when you first meet the companion.

Never said that Arcanum isn't the better game, only that it has exactly one NPC companion that is comparable in content to NPCs from Bio/Obs games.

Arcanum does have some really great party members (I'll always love Geoffrey) but if you think they have more content than the ones from Tyranny or even Pillars of Eternity then you're fucking delusional.

That's what i meant - Tyranny companions feel like i'm clicking through Morrowind-styled Wikipedia which gives me bonuses for reading all that stories, while in Arcanum it was done in a more proper way. Quantity isn't quality, and both PoE and Tyranny suffer from that

See above. I never said 'content' btw, if you read my post, it was about overall design of character interactions. Tyranny is obviously behind Arcanum, DAO, Kotor2 and other games. In any case, it's my personal opinion, i don't preach that as some kind of objective truth (furthermore, in Putinland it's only 10 jewgolds, so i bought it without any regrets)

The thing is that not only AOD can be completed without any fights at all but also it doesn't have any trash mobs which makes every encounter unique and memorable. As for DS its just a shit game altogether.

What character interactions? Most of them have introductory dialogue then never speak again.

A couple of them have a few things to say elsewhere. So do the companions in Tyranny/PoE.
