Gamebanshee has posted a press release from Zuzzex entertainment officially announcing The Temptation, the planned expansion to Reality Pump's action RPG, Two Worlds:

The developers are focusing on a blend of the proven and the new: besides several well-known regions of Antaloor, there are also completely new territories to explore. The combat system has been further enhanced too – now you can use active blocking, for example. Many other additional developments have been added – developments which have enabled a completely new means of transport and a much enhanced reaction from NPCs – but more on these and a whole host of other surprises shortly! The release of “Two Worlds – The Temptation” for PC and consoles is planned for the first half of 2008.

You can see some screenshots at www.2-worlds.com/temptation.

Good news for those like me who thought Two Worlds wasn't great but was still an enjoyable game.

RPGWatch did a good review of it here: http://www.rpgwatch.com/show/article?ar ... ef=0&id=16

Interesting, though really the game has already absorbed entirely too much of my time. I hope they fix some other stuff from combat too, and get all the skills working right.

They finally got the riding done right in the latest patch. Now riding a horse/other creature feels less like a chore and more like an advantage. Though I didn't like them massively increasing the movement speed so much... it was fine the way it was.

Oh yeah, horses. They really need to either speed up the dismount animation or make it so the horse can't be hit and killed while you're dismounting.

Hmm what's the combat like? I'm curious about this game.

Active blocking might actually make it a decent Action RPG. As such I tried the demo and hated it, it was like the Gothic series but with a large dose of suck, and without the brilliant, under-appreciated control scheme.

Noooooooooooooooooooo!

Don't give me that active blocking shit. I don't want it. Noone needs it. It'll make Two Worlds feel like cloen of bloody Oblivion.

I really hope that active blocking is optional.

P.S.: The control system was illogic, unintuitive and definitly designed for a joypad with the sad fact that they removed the joypad support for the game. The control scheme is what kills G1+2 for me every time.

G3 is an improvement, though.

Out of curiosity, were you using mouse control? I seem to remember 1, 2 or both defaulting to keyboard-only controls.

As opposed to feeling like a "cloen" of bloody Diablo? ;)

Except that the control scheme sucks on the 360 controller... especially inventory management.

I'll probably buy it. I'm may be in the minority here, but I prefered it over Oblivion. It has more reasonable level scaling, a much more immersive world geography (varied terrain and I don't have to spend 10 - 30s loading everytime I go into or out of a building, etc.), and I really liked the item combination, spell boosting, and (sometimes) the alchemy stuff. Sure, it has loads against it, but as a "romp around and kill crap" it's OK. Anyhoo...

I'm still having a blast with this game. It's a lot of fun to ride around on a horse through pretty environments and hack at things. It comes as a kind of release after playing proper RPGs like The Witcher and MotB. Sometimes my brain just wants to take a bit of time off, not have to think about plotlines and dialogue but just go and hack stuff down.
