Unfortunately, statistics aren’t favorable for the website owners: the number of websites is increasing in a nearly exponential way, while the number of new Internet users is also increasing but with a considerable lower ratio.
In these circumstances, website designers have turned into online specialized businessmen, applying the rules of marketing in order to obtain the desired results, in fact profit. One of these rules conducted to the idea that it is better to create a website for a specific niche, meaning just for a segment of the total Internet users. More precisely, each online presence has a specific public target. By reducing the potential visitors, it may seem that the chances of a website being visited are reduced, but it must be taken into account that the selected target is interested in your offer and the possibility to land on your website is bigger. Of course, it’s not wrong to launch a general-type website, but its development will turn out to be a very difficult job.
A special segment, which needs a special treatment, is the female category. The websites, mostly online stores and blogs, created to handle only female problems are very numerous yet these receive a large number of visitors, of course the huge majority of them being women. This targeted segment is very selective but clearly, launching a website mostly for women isn’t only the job of Casanova. On the other hand, no one should think that it is a simple task, mostly for women, and specialists have developed entire strategies to successfully accomplish the requirements of the client related to the traffic. Here are the most important tips that must be studied before launching a website for women, the list isn’t fixed, and it may be completed with your excellent ideas so please use the comment form.
The first steps towards creating a website are very important because here any mistake is hard or impossible to rectify. Hence, if you want to launch a website for women, it’s compulsory to find a niche that presents an attraction for them or else you made a capital failing from the start. It depends on many factors but mostly probably on the design of the webpage. Maybe the topic is not good enough but also the design is decisive when it comes to making your visitors stay more on your website. Women have different tastes from men hence a web designer must be very carefully when it comes to this. Nobody has the recipe for female-only websites but usually it is recommended to avoid technical or sci-fi influences, powerful contrasts and violent messages. It is not wrong to ask for the opinion of the women you know or post the design on a feedback website.
- Pay attention to the layout of the webpage
Colors are very important; a well-done color scheme may be like a magnet but also can be a real impediment for women. They don’t like the dark color combination; usually warm colors are their favorite. Even if the websites are women related, there are still important rules to obey like usability and accessibility; that means that there should be a normal coloring of the visited links, unvisited or current page, the contrast must be strong enough to emphasize the written content and so on. The originality is affected by these restrictions but don’t worry, web designers have created amazing layouts suitable for this public target.
- Use proper color scheme
Women are more sensitive than a man is and every detail has a big importance for them. A wise content writer is aware of that and consequently his work won’t contain violent and powerful messages. In addition, it is better to give up at an official style; this is suitable for official or business websites.
- The content must be written in a very personal way
Usually (I bolded “usually” to emphasize that the statement is valid for the majority, but there are exceptions) women aren’t attracted in such in a great proportion by technologies and gadgets. The same idea must be applied when building websites, the complicated slides or a difficult navigational menu aren’t much appreciated. The flashy banners aren’t liked by anybody, being are real burdens which make women run away from you.
Any designer uses icons, drawings and it is wrong not to use them when the targeted segment is represented by women. To show them that you really want to have a website for women, it is better to insert small items that prove that. You can start with the logo, which should have something feminine in the construction and whenever it is possible to use icons that make references to them. (i.e. let’s suppose that you use a white envelope icon to represent the mail address, it might be better to change the colors, a pinky icon surely work better).

On the other hand, don’t overuse these elements; don’t create a pinky layout with a few icons representing sylphs. The recipe of success is nothing more than finding the balance between usability and the originality of the items that must be liked by women.
