That candle should have been extinguished by a water arrow.:rpgcodex:
This is it, then. Awesome button light source takedowns confirmed. Say goodbye to tactical inventory management.

I think using Focus to highlight candles in the dark is hilarious moronic enough.

Imagine using fingers to extinguish candles in game and suddenly Garrett says ouch and loses a point of health. Realism bitch, that's why we use water arrows.:P

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
The Dark Mod actually has candle-extinguishing by blowing it out (take the candle, use it, put it back down), as do some FMs for Thief 2. For candles it works well enough, but torches are a completely different thing.

Codex 2014 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy
As I'm sure most members are aware a new THEIF Game is currently in development. With a few exceptions this is something we're all looking forward to. Unfortunately, we've been contacted by parties representing Eldos and Squire Enix who desire a separation between the discussions here and those on the official forums. For those of you who are not aware this was hysterically not a problem as the game was previously due to be branded as Thi4f.

We are confident we can resolve this issue after the Easter holidays but until then we are required to use the alternative "THEIF" nominclature for all discussions. There is no need to edit individual posts - this has been handled on the server and will be dealt with until we can resume normal service.

Thanks as always,

Al

So what? You will just get a screen saying "You are wounded! Take cover!" and then you quickly regain that lost health.

By computer game standards, Thief has rock solid narrative. It is logical, doesn't overstate its points, and leaves the finer details of the plot to be reconstructed by the player, no walls of text involved. It also has great closure, so much so that the second game feels wrong for having Garrett as its protagonist.

The second game also suffered from a weaker story, and female guards diluted the atmosphere of the first somewhat by introducing a pointless anachronism (i'm also not sure why Viktoria was suddenly all good and heroic where as she was a complete evil bitch in the first game).

Meh, zero gameplay, as expected.

I'm sure it's cool if it was a movie. But even if modern video game designers desperately want to make cinematic awesome blockbusters, they still only make games. Their trailers should really reflect that we are dealing with games, not movies.
As it is game trailers are not worth the time making them or watching them.

I fucking hate these CGI trailers, they show you nothing of the actual game and take away valuable money that should be spent making sure the game itself isn't shit. Not much hope of that though.

You happen to have a common enemy in the second game.
In the first game she just did the Trickster's bidding.

I guess she would not have hesitated to take Garretts other eye as well, had the alignments changed again before she died.

If Stephen Russell turned them down because the game will most probably be crap then he did the right thing. :smug:
