It wasn't, thanks for the update. They spoke a lot but didn't say very much at all in the vid, typical PR talk. "We totally respect the series and are all big fans, but don't expect this new game to be very much like the old ones."

Probably a language issue, but I found it weird that they say making the new Thief just for the fans of the originals is "dangerous".

What is so weird about it? "Dangerous" as in "Will not bring us a shitload of cash".

Yeah, they simply mean they need to sell 4 million copies for this to be a success and too many retardos won't buy it if it plays just like the original.

Pretty simple concept.

Mass market budgets ruin niche gaming styles, simple as that. Support kickstarter and indie projects that suit your needs and get what fun you can out of the big simple shit. It works, for what it is. Like renting Michael Bay movies for a chuckle and to test your TV, then buying real movies like Gattaca or whatever.

I don't know if this was posted before, here's a newish video: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/featu...treal-and-the-overshadowing-thief-legacy.aspx
I really hate this DNA word. And how they use it. I really do.

"It's not TEEF, it's TEEF." :lol::lol:

Terrible video. They barely hide their contempt for the idea of staying true to the game's original concept. They even sneer when they talk about it. I also like how the General Manager talks about DOOM being the big thing in "1998,1999,2000" whilst on the screen it has "Doom (1993)". Did he read this on wikipedia?

To be honest they don't even come across as people who play games for fun. They look like hipster and marketing folk who have been told to have a look at some videos of the old games in order to be "educated" on the topic. They don't talk about their own experiences with the games, or anything which cannot be gleaned from watching a couple of YouTube videos. Such emptiness

Yeah pretty much, a bunch of hipster faggots who have no idea what they're actually talking about.
Also Humanity has risen! what the fuck is wrong with French Canadians? These guys have been living in an english-speaking country for generations they can't be bothered to learn to speak the language properly? Worse than muslim immigrants. I actually expected french Canadians to be fluent native speakers of both English and French, but these guys speak horrible English. Is this representative of most french Canadians?

As a bilingual person myself I find that pretty embarrassing.

The context of that line was about what type of game they're trying to make, not about financial viability. It was going like - "we'll stay true to the originals, but won't make the exact same game because... it's dangerous".

"because we want to leave our mark on the game" would've been more non-weird.

It depends on the person, but it's not really a matter of ghettoization. It is more that they usually evolve in separate social circles, so French and English people have usually little interaction with one another, so it is simply a matter of practice.

Also, English Canadians who live in Montreal, whose official language is French per its charter, have French that it 20 times worse, if they speak any that is.

Lacks a gross upscaling from 720p. Also should've cut out the bottom - it's not that hard in paint. Plus it would've ended up as 16:9

Wait, Thief came out in 1998 didn't it? If they were only 5 years old then, they wouldn't be 20 yet now. :retarded:
Maybe, they are genetically engineered clones with fake memories created by Ubisoft with the only purpose of fuck good franchises.

And if they actually made those short gameplay clips themselves, it shows they have no idea whatsoever of playing Thief. That's some really, really amateurish playing there. Actually managing to get that drunk guard in Bafford's to become alert, while approaching him from behind? Always checking the corner and then quickly taking a few steps back on a marble floor when there's an alert guard right nearby? And that scene in Cragscleft with the zombie, where they aim with the bow but wait long enough for the zombie to vanish around a corner, but then they keep aiming at that spot. Oh, AND the only clip they've shown of Thief 3 was played in fucking third person, yeah good job on showing us that you actually "understand" Thief. Well guess what, you don't.

Yes that is a good idea. Every devs taking over a classic franchise from others should let us see them actually playing originals. Would be way more convincing than any empty claims about being fans of the series, and if they really are fans, doing a video like that should be no problem at all. What we need is interviewers pushing them in that direction by asking some right questions.

I hope this piece of shit tanks. That would be my only consolation.
