Maybe it is a regional thing? I do not have the coupon icon. Mine just shows the sales price like normal.

During full takeover summer/winters sales the whole new releases/upcoming/top sellers tabs are removed from the front page and I don't think many steam users utilize the new and noteworthy drop down menus to reach them during that time.

go to the main page and keep scrolling down, wishlist is one of the frames, and new releases / upcoming are also there... it also generates more that is focused on you constantly as long as you keep scrolling.

Had a huge haul but refunding a good portion of them to get on a deeper sale in future because I have more than enough to play now and I simply cannot afford it. Just got sucked in. I kept most of my haul, though, which includes Devil Spire, Dread Delusion, and Project Gorgon.

Anyone think Tunic will be on a deeper sale around Christmas, or ever? Part of me wants to support the indie dev but from the look of it he's already successful. But then again, unique games like this should be rewarded I feel and I have a soft spot for devs/artists like this.

Both these are advice for keeping eyes on your game and extending the shelf life of an already released product, find me an article telling people to release their new games during a sale or just before it. It's great for continued support but unless your game is already guaranteed to be a huge success whenever it's released due to popularity I don't think releasing it during a takeoever is advisable.

Both these are advice for keeping eyes on your game and extending the shelf life of an already released product, find me an article telling people to release their new games during a sale or just before it. It's great for continued support but unless your game is already guaranteed to be a huge success whenever it's released due to popularity I don't think releasing it during a takeoever is advisable.

the thing about updates is more about games that are leaving early access just before a sale. I thought I recall some article saying that general sales on steam are up a LOT during the summer sale that even non-discounted items generally do better simply due to more people visiting steam and being in the mood to spend money. I presume that is why many want to get releases out before the sale. Of the ones you listed, they are all discounted except Sludge Life 2, which is published by Devolver and I'm sure they released it now for a reason instead of waiting another month, it's not like they are new to publishing on Steam.

again, new releases are listed on the main page when you scroll down, as well as upcoming and top sellers which you claimed don't appear. go to the client so there's no extensions in play go to the main store page and scroll down. yes there are more things there like categories and other stuff, but all of those normal things are still there. plus new releases show up in the discovery queue, which sale participants are encouraged to use:

Baseline visibility​

As a baseline, your product will appear to customers in the 'New on Steam' queue when released fully. Here's how it works:

  • As soon as your product releases, it is added to a pool of titles that have also just released.
  • Each time a logged-in Steam user visits the 'New on Steam Queue', the system generates a queue from that pool, prioritizing the titles that have the least amount of views since release.
  • Depending on each users' preferences, your title may not be included in a queue. Titles can be filtered out based on associated tags or the type of product it is.
  • When the user then clicks through their 'New on Steam Queue', they will land on your store page and it counts as a view in our system.

AFAIK Valve's official stance is there's no bad time to release a game except when you are ready to release it.

It's actually p. good ruling overall, due to endless stream of price monkeying on various eshops during sale events (Black Friday etc.) but it's totally useless for Steam. AFAIK there's never been a single case of price scamming on Steam.

GOG seems to have implemented this in a much less retarded way, in every game's store page they mention the lowest price of the last 30 days but everything else is normal.The way Steam implemented it makes browsing a pain in the ass
