A friend of mine sent me his video playing and I thought it was pretty crazy, I liked it, at least this video is so much fucking better than those gameplay trailers with a QTE every 2 seconds just to show off. Apparently you don't need to do that

Usually I like random gameplay videos with no voice over like this to judge a game.

By the way, this game is fast as fuck, I'm used to fast FPSes (never stopped playing classic Doom and the Build Engine games, Hexen, etc.) but for some reason this seems way too fast for me. Maybe I'm getting old :negative:

Shit. This actually looks like fun.

Heh the new faster vids look fun. They don't look cool though, I don't get what's with the constant weapon switching, the shotgun not splattering brains all over the wall in one hit and what's with the low amount of enemies just standing around the arena? I think those things make it seem weird to me.

Can anybody confirm if the difficulty level increases the number of enemies? TotalRetard said it in his video but I think he doesn't know shit and I don't remember the last game that actually did that.

To me it looks like a brainless competent shooter but that's just a short video. I don't like things that are proclaimed to be "just brainless fun dude, turn off your brain dude and enjoy it" because that usually means it's utter shit. Painkiller is a good brainless fun, Call of Duty ain't. This looks like the good kind. I will get it the next time I upgrade my PC.

I'm probably way late to the party, but I still can't get my head around the fact that someone thought (and probably still does) that those "glory kills" were actually a good idea, and that they were actually longer at some point. If I'm playing a fast-paced shooter, the very last thing I want is for the game to wrestle all control away from me and make me watch a cutscene. You can say goodbye to any sense of flow when that shit kicks in, no matter how short or unobtrusive they're supposed to be. The game seems to be trying way too hard with those 2edgy4u first-person cutscenes anyway, which is a common trait for all pseudo-old school shooters that come out nowadays — Doom didn't have to try to prove how "hardcore" or "brutal" it was, it just had an incredibly satisfying shotgun, a killer soundtrack and a sense of aesthetics, something that this game is sorely missing. Doom was awesome because you could really feel all the genuine passion that was poured into it by a bunch of young guys that were into heavy metal and all kinds of cool stuff and just wanted to create a game that they themselves wanted to play, but D44M is just weak and forced, like a kid that bought his first Slayer album last week and wants to make sure that everyone fucking knows about it.

Played it for an hour.

- Insane is challenging, at least for me so pick that difficult immediately
- Movement is fast and you can easily go over edges, and cliffs making it feel smooth
- Health bars popping from monsters is kind of stupid, but you still need to hurt them before hand and then go for the finisher to get health so it's risky and better than just having auto-regen (tho lazy)
- There's more exploration than in a modern FPS shooter that we have been used to for the past decade, but of course it's not as good as in the 90's
- Performance is good and you can play this just fine with just 4 gb ram if you lower your settings
- Like someone mentioned, weapon sounds are meh but still it's fun to shoot stuff

So far maybe the biggest annoyance is the arena style design.

First impression is that D44M is a worthwhile FPS game, but obviously not for the normal price tag

I think it looks kinda kewl but it should have been reserved to berserk mode.

Increasing how long were you on the WOOD dev team?
He, he, I wish I had a job in gaming industry. I also wish my actual job was anything as low effort as promoting video games on various messageboards presumably is.:)

No. This forum, more precisely this thread, was mentioned few times on a forum I frequent. I too had less than stellar opinion of latest Doom before its release and especially after playing that unfortunate multiplayer beta, so I decided to drop in and see how people were reacting around here considering I was more than pleasantly surprised by the game in the end, as were most of Doom skeptics around the net.
I was disappointed by some of the comments I saw here, so for better or worse I had to weigh in.

How's the singleplayer experience? Outside of killing monsters, is there any story worth anything other than pure luls?

Is this comparable to Doom 3 in any way? Better or worse?

That DOOM666 code is not valid.

EDIT: lol CDKEYS won't give me the key without knowing my phone number. But I suspect that's the only reason they're not sold out yet - it controls quantity buyers.

Sorry man, someone on another forum was posting about it. I guess it was a preorder deal.

Yeah, these sites are a bit odd. I bought from one once and they demanded I send them a photo of my ID document. I suspect they get a lot of people buying with stolen credit cards.

People who are playing it say that the story is clearly only an excuse to killing monsters.
