It's utter buffoonery to keep GRPG separate from JRPG when the latter has been destroying the former's asshole for years. CRPGs are nearly dead. The Japs run a train on the industry day in, day out. You stop disrespecting JRPGs because they are the only thing keeping your genre alive, you weathered dying fucks. Submit.

Just think, within the span of three years two JRPGs will have won GOTY. Cope, dilate, etc. Just don't let the druid trick you. Don't forget the dark horse Stellar Blade (it will be on PC ctfd).

And 2025 is Monster Hunter Wilds. You have nothing. Some porn games and Bloodlines 2 made by the fucking Chinese Room. The JRPG subforum >>>> whatever you call this places. The Japs control your favorite genre.

Bow to your slant-eyed overlords.

Fedora Master will come in here pretending he had nothing to do with this. Regardless of his cowardice, the Japs make better RPGs at this point. Change/twist/twirl the definition of RPG as much as you like, they do it better. This is the acceptance thread.

Why do the Japanese make RPG's where everyone is a retardedly dressed teenager? With the possible exception of Dark Souls, the Japanese have just made the same game for years which is essentially just an iteration of Final Fantasy.

The life of the average Japanese drone revolves around highschool because that's the only handful of years where they experience any sort of "freedom".
They also require the emotional incontinence of puberty to properly read situations because they're also autistic.

Whenever I think of Dark Souls, I can't help but feel the enormity of what the game did to its players. It's akin to PST, but more. Especially because DS is so replayable, whereas PST is okay to be replayed once per 15 years.
Then they kept making them. More and more of the shockingly good stuff.

It's in everything they do. The japs are perfect gentlemen - the work on optimizations out of respect for the players, when the western lesbian devs stick dlss into the game and call it a day.
They don't offer difficulty settings in DS, respecting the player not to be a retard.
They make beautiful girls, respecting the player not to be a SJW soycuck.

The japs respect us. The western dev takes a shit on us and calls us toxic.

Btw the thread ended up here because Infinitron was immediately threatened. He moved the thread seconds after I posted it, out of FEAR!

I will get my Nikki Rhodes avatar god damit.

Behind you.
the Japanese have just made the same game for years which is essentially just an iteration of Final Fantasy.
And apparently, in the remaster of Final Fantasy 7, they gayed up Sepiroth. Skar from Lion King would call Sepiroth a fag.

I have access to a lot of Japanese takes on RPGs since I tinker with the 3DS a lot. They have some good takes on things, particularly blobbers like Etrian Odyssey. However, if you look at Atlus lately, they seem content to touch up their old games and re-release them on as many platforms as possible more than they want to push forward on new things. It's pretty obvious that SquareSoft has lost their crown in the genre, but they're trying the same thing since each version of Final Fantasy seems to sell worse than the one before it. Their hay day was the PSX/PS2 era, and Atlus seemed to be poised and ready to pick that crown up in the PS3/Wii/DS era. But they've stagnated too. You can only remaster Persona 3 through 5 so many times.

Meanwhile, in terms of Western developed CRPGs, a lot of the AAA studios seem to be faltering as well. I think consumers have finally realized that Bethesda only churns out CRPGs in the lightest sense of the word and don't have a Hell of a lot of direction in all the other areas that make up for the weak character system and mechanics. Obsidian still seems to make halfway decent games and they don't stick to one mold, either. So, they tend to cover a wide variety of likes and dislikes. Larian seems to be doing well on the back of D:OS2 and BG3, but I don't think they'd be as popular if they made a non-license title with as much gay shit in it. I'm also pretty sure WotC had a lot to do with how fagged up BG3 was.

Meanwhile, Western indie developers have given us Kenshi and Bannerlords. Also, the ARPG subgenre seems to be doing fine with Last Epoch selling better than expected and Path of Exile 2 on the horizon. Grim Dawn is getting ready to get another expansion as well. We'll ignore Diablo IV for now, since Blizzard can't seem to do anything right these days.
