What's wrong with Cassandra's eyebrows? Eyebrows don't do that I'm pretty sure.

http://forum.bioware.com/topic/521697-pc-community-concerns/

With the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition, we've been hearing a number of concerns from members of our PC community, including:

  • Driver support
  • Hitching and frame rate issues in cutscenes
  • Feedback on keyboard and mouse controls
  • General user interface optimizations for PC

We've been following these issues closely and are looking into them.

Player experience is a top priority for us. Our goal is to address as many of these as possible in our upcoming patches, including some in our next patch, which is underway. We’ll release further details in the coming days and will continue to monitor your concerns.

Your feedback is important to us, and we appreciate your contribution to making Dragon Age: Inquisition a better overall experience.

I have an amd and I really don't like downloading

UPDATE:

If you are having DirectX issues and you have an AMD Radeon graphics card, please update to the AMD Catalyst 14.11.2 beta driver.

We are aware of issues with certain NVidia graphic cards and we are working with NVIDIA for a solution.

I have an amd and I really don't like using their beta drivers... Had to go back to older drivers several times...

Ass-kicking woman warriors is a fucking nerd trope that predates SJW by decades. Seems pretty silly to deny that. Look at the box art for Darklands FFS.
But they were hot.

Even before Inquisiton, Cassandra was kinda pretty.

her character design is so, so good in Inquisition. and hey! they managed to do it without making her a caricature of sexual characteristics or exposing skin anywhere but her face and hands! this is what nerds don't get about the "stop sexualizing female characters" conversation. the point isn't to make unattractive women. it's to make all characters, regardless of sex, visually distinct and interesting, rather than falling back on "hurrr tits." Leliana fails in this. she's not recognizable or memorable at all. if I saw her character elsewhere in another outfit, I wouldn't recognize her. this is a fucking flaw. the guy who writes Dresden Codak did an incredible blog on character design that forever changed the way I evaluate art direction: http://goo.gl/uZaLb the tl;dr is "every character needs to be recognizable in silhouette, they need to be recognizable naked, if you're not doing that, you're doing it wrong." gaming is very, very bad about this.

I can't decide if I like Cassandra's actual character or not yet, but I've barely budged the main plot.

also like you know women are basically in charge in Thedas outside of Tevintir right as a setting they built their "misogyny isn't so much a thing" into the foundations with Andraste and the Chantry it's not -just- being non-despicable human beings there is a narrative coherence to it

The complaining about people of different color and accents in a game with elves, dwarves, and magic because there's a superficial similarity to medieval England is hilariously stupid

Ha yes, my favored fallacy. Too bored to go through explaining why this line of thinking is fucking retarded for what is probably the hundredth time.

Lemme guess..."I am alone in the world and don't care about anyone else so it's fine if black people never see themselves represented in games," right? I thought so, honey, it's okay, shhh. Biology enters into it exactly nowhere. It is utterly not the point.

As far as accents go, they're pretty consistent with regional origin, which I think is kind of interesting. It's not meant to be literal, just a simulation of distinctiveness in language. The fact that everyone on the planet seems to speak the same language with a different accent is...a little weird, yes, not sure if that's explained anywhere. Think the only time we heard any other languages in DA was that bullshit conlang stuff the elven ghost kid threw out in the werewolf ruins in Origins.

Yes Cassandra doesnt look very good and besides she has a shitty attitude and disagrees with a lot i do. Closest thing to a toon that somewhat resembles anything attractive to a straight male (provided you want to do that romance shit) is the other advisor forgot her name, but she has a nasty accent. Leliana is also not bad and the fact that she is a devious spy type adds to the attraction. However she is not a romance option. As for the agenda bw is pushing i dont give a shit and mostly ignore it or lol about it. Mostly its notes, books or side conversations. The gay mage is actually quite tolerable and written pretty well i guess.

I must say, the choice at the end of the Fade sequence got me:

Do you sacrifice your bromance Alistair who got your back during all of Origin or Hawke? I don't care about Hawke but it makes Varric very sad and he gets a very unsettling character-card.

400 pages of copious codexian insanity over biowarian SJW shit has caused me to make up my mind. I'm going to buy Faggot Rage: Circumcision and do a screenshot Let's Play of it in the Playground. Unless someone else does it first. May the Maker help me in this darkest hour.

Why don't you guys just admit that you want to play the game?

It seems like half of the posts in this thread follow a similar pattern:

Bash DA for having gay people in it (?), being MMO-like, having shit writing and combat, etc.
Buy it and complain about it.
Don't stop playing it.

You meant that "wheeny bastard" Alistair.

Also I must addmit I'm proud owner of DA:O and I didn't pay a dime.

Can you imagine, it was on house, one day? On the hand this means I must have Origin on my PC, but at least it was what I wanted Dragon Age:Origin. They didn't lie.

There are class specializations and all the NPCs have one. Three specializations and three NPCs per class. The NPCs get them once you do the map mission that unlocks the specialization quests(it is one of those no time map quests) for your main character. The map mission becomes available as the plot progresses.

There are more than three because Cassandra and Blackwall have different ones, and are both warriors. Cassandra has "templar" and Blackwall has a higher tanking tree. So I guess Cassandra would be the one to convert to DPS if you don't want Iron Bull.

We have a lot of people in the Codex who are not learning animals. Nothing even comparable with the stupidity of the average Biotard though, as seen from the latest influx we recently had from that cesspool in this thread.

From my part, the last Bioware game i've played was KOTOR. I think i may own the first Mass Effect on steam, bought it when it was a like a buck, but never played it. As for Dragon Age, that shit looked so retarded to me that i'm surprised Bioware didn't go under right there and then with the first game.

Ho yes, Biotard fanboys buying that shit by the droves. Right.

I do want to play the game. Never said I didn't. I just hope it will be entertainingly bad, and not a"I left my children starving to buy this piece of shit?!" kind of game.

Why were populations separated when there are magical portals and flying mounts and whatnot? Why is there one dominant language without a history of empire?

a) there are no magical portals, you fucking reject. you can neither move around nor communicate at range magically in the DA setting. this is an incredibly important feature of the universe.

b) there is a history of empire, you fucking reject. the Tevintir ruled the world.

c) there are black people because there are black people in real life and it is a game and it isn't real. you clearly don't actually give a shit about the consistency of the setting because you don't know a fucking thing about it. you've managed to show off the worst aspects of Asperger's without any of the few redeeming qualities. congraturation

d) you should probably kill yourself at the nearest juncture

Complain about the game, the hokey writing, the sex scenes, but this is just close minded dumbness at best. It's a bloody fantasy setting, whatever BioWare says the peoples look like is what they look like.
Then why are they using word elves, dwarves, or similar?

"the setting is inconsistent because of these incorrect facts! for that reason, nobody brown!"

let's put it this way: they'd probably have sales problems if they made -everyone- appear to be of recent African origin. there's absolutely no reason why Thedas should be populated by predominantly white people rather than predominantly black people. so they went the perfectly understandable "we come from and sell to a largely white audience" route and made the default white but also included othercolored people because -they fucking exist.-

if this causes you grief, you are not worthy of life. it's a game about magic elf wizards. for all we know, heredity and genetics don't even exist in Thedas. certainly Bethany and Whoever didn't seem to look much of anything like my Hawke. Dragon Age deliberately avoids real-world awfulness in favor of fantasy awfulness--which, in the case of elven ghettos and shit, is still a pretty close parallel. it makes no attempt to present a world of 'realistic' problems. if this upsets you, die.

when George R R Martin writes a story in which women are marginalized, it's with brutal sympathy and intent. Bioware writes light heroic fantasy, absurd and absurdly simple cosmic struggles. their stories aren't about women being subjugated and people being mistreated because they happen to be the wrong color. they're about magical elf wizards. they're about using the word "demon" five thousand times in a single narrative. there are so many sophisticated things to complain about in Dragon Age. "there are spics" isn't fucking one of them.

It's pretty funny to watch with buddies when you are drinking...

Has anyone actually used console controller when playing this game? I am curious how it feels diffrent compared to mouse and keyboards.

Edit: I meant the movie is fun to watch, not the game.

Welcome to the codex. It's a well known fact among codex scholars, that to properly study the decline, the special ultra deluxe pre-order edition of all bioware AAA-games must be bought, and all games must be played through 8 times while you regularly go to the codex to tell everyone how shit the game is. Personally, for me, this looks like one of the best Bioware outings in years. Though there seems to be much that needs to be fixed, in particular the "tactical" camera. I hope and pray that bioware will listen to the criticism and fix this, it should be pretty easy to fix. If they do this, I might buy it once the price is reduced, or when it is on sale.

I have a strong Oblivion vibe from what I seen in the beginning. Portals everywhere. Closing portals. The only difference is there are no runes as a reward for closing the portal.

I don't think there's -inherently- anything wrong with that as long as you're honest about it, which...a lot of people around here aren't. I've been middling disappointed with Bioware games for a long time, but I get them 'cause I'm interested in the format and it's not like they're painful to play, just full of let-downs. I'm glad the company exists, even if a lot of its choices make me a sad gay.

But the hyperbolic negativity sure does get tired, yeah. There aren't even really discussions here. Just a bunch of nerds competing to sound most jaded.

I'm using one on my PC. it's...okay. I'm sort of blocking out that it's trying to be a tactical RPG and playing a melee tank and pretending it's a beat-em-up-style game. middling success. I enjoyed it more in multiplayer, for whatever reason. in the campaign, my tank feels kind of ineffectual, and the absurd overpowered abilities the multiplayer character had are nowhere to be sheen.

played an archer in multiplayer briefly and found it terribllle. would not recommend trying to use a controller as a ranged character. although the game does automatically pause when you use a targeted AoE, so it's not -impossible.- just...probably not fun.
