Or just invading at low levels period. Newbs aren't the best at PvP, generally.

I have the game a spin with the current broken crack that doesn't let you save, but fuck, the game is virtually unplayable with KB+mouse. I was in the camp that thought it couldn't be as bad as people said it would be, but I can't imagine playing it without a controller.

Mouse is RE4-style. i.e. fucked up, though not as bad since this isn't an FPS. Aiming is needed at times, but headshots aren't. Annoyingly, the mouse cursor is also ALWAYS visible ontop of the game. Bad port is bad...

The default control binds are majorly fucked up. Guess what key opens the menu? I'll sit around while you run through the options and get to the worst possible choice...

... the End key.

Also your number keys (1-0), mouse buttons, along with some other keys are non-rebindable. Guess we wait for a few more mods...

Resolution mod appears to prevent you from reading the bloodstains at the moment. Presumably that can be fixed in fairly short order. It does look pretty good once you use it though.

Interestingly enough, there is an option to remove motion blur. Funny how even this port manages to get something right that supposed good PC developers don't.

Wow, the game has been out for like a couple of hours and I was already invaded by a naked guy using the Gravelord Sword!

Agreed , I tried for a couple of minutes to see, but no fucking way to play with Kb+M...

EDIT: Just noticed, they didn't even bother to make a shortcut icon!

You sound so entitled...
I hate that term, it's just a industry buzzword that means "just because you paid for it doesn't mean you have any rights"....

Anyway, I owned the Xbawks version, bought the PC and I'm very glad they did this port, just dissapointed at how lazy they were with it...

...that was sarcasm. I was mocking the bad port.

The not removed version has saving now. Oh, and a shortcut icon.

Mouse control is fucked because of some sort of deceleration - the faster you move the mouse, the slower you turn. I can't imagine how they thought that would be a good idea, but it's in line with the quality of the port.

I think it's playable with keyboard and mouse, but barely. Might submit to the popamole and pick up a controller some time.

Downloaded the fix, and it works! Fuck day-one DLC's, we now have Day-one mods will fix it!

Here's my comparison:

Worked nicelly, got 30fps even on Blightown.

Seeing the game in 1080p led me to believe they did this to try to hide their low-rez textures and assets... while the equipments and floor textures scale well, stuff like walls, trees and the landscape looks very weaker now....

For those that are inclined, you can sample this game without any kind of crack or anything. Just enter a made up cd key and create an offline "LIVE" profile and everything works except online play.

Got it working with my PS2 controller, too. I'm going to skip the resolution mod because it apparently breaks in-game messages at the moment.

Interestingly, the resolution mod will let you supersample by inputting a higher resolution than your display. 2880x1620 looks great, and I'm still flat at 30 FPS with 2x AA and 4x AF on a Geforce 570. For all the other crap this port has, I think performance isn't much of a problem.

Aye, works great with the resolution fix. Pity about the messages though. Decided to stick with the knight; caster classes were pretty boring to play.I was struggling against the skellies at the graveyard but then I found the morningstar that makes short work of them (as you would expect). Then died to the skelly boss. :D Starting to warm up to the game.

PS2 or PS3? Because I have my PS2 controller connected through an adapter I had laying arround and the game doesn't recognize it, is there a way to rebind the joystick buttons other than joy2k?

Have you tried with x360ce? While the game recognized my Rumblepad, the button layout was off until used x360ce.

Yeah, x360ce works perfectly with my PS2 wired controller. The only annoyance is that none of the on-screen button icons match up obviously, and there are a shit ton of combinations for different moves, making it a huge pain in the ass to figure out what button does what. If there was a way to mod those to match PS2/PS3 icons it would be a godsend.

I've played about an hour, can't manage to kill the first boss. I'm not really seeing what the big rage over the game is, but I guess you can't judge it much from an hour of play. I also regret going with a caster class, magic arrows seem pretty turdy. I guess this is what you get for going in blindly.

Other than that it runs beautifully on my rig so far, which surprised me. Phenom II x4 B45 @ 3.45ghz and a Radeon 4850 @ 1920x1080. I haven't used the framebuffer mod yet, though, so that might make it chug some.

It seems that the port is worse than bad. But at least there are no performance issues, that was my No1 problem with the console version. I think I wait for a while and see how the mods can improve the game. Than I might give it a try.
