I'm really excited about the PC release. Not that I'll buy it, I have it on consoles, but I want the Codex to play this gem. I'm curious about your opinion on Dark Souls. I hope you will enjoy it.

Chest contents are hand placed. Drops from enemies are a mix of both. Some enemies have guaranteed drops, almost everything drops something, but some of those drops are quite rare.

I onw the console version too, but it' one of my all-time favorite games, I'm very happy to have it on a the PC, so I can replay it years from now without worring about keeping my Xbwaks.

Share your impressions about the PC version after release please. We know that it won't be too good, but if it will be decent at least, I might buy it later.

No surprise here. They told us that they just upscale the resolution.

Looks like 720p upscaled to 1080p.
Because it is. We knew that already. And it doesn't even run at a stable 30 fps, dips to 25 all the time.

And don't even think of using mouse and keyboard to play this, it's atrocious. Gamepad works well enough though (as expected), but the UI takes some getting used to.

I don't own a gamepad and with the combination of fucking abominable controls/interface (e.g. intact Press A prompts) and terribad resolution this is easily the worst port I've seen. Saints Row 2 has nothing on this. And yes, it looks as bad in motion as it does in the screencaps.

To think that I considered preordering. Might be worth a token Steam sale purchase if these things get fixed but I'm genuinely surprised at how bad it turned out.

Technical aspects aside, the game seems quite decent. I'm still only messing around at the beginning trying to figure out which class to play. Killed the asylum demon a couple times, but the game doesn't seem brutally hard for now. Bonfires are everywhere and if you die you just backtrack and get your XP back ontop of the XP from respawned mobs - should sound familiar to anyone who's played MMOs. Atm I'm struggling more with the controls than the game itself (I'm no good with gamepads, and this button layout seems particularly unintuitive, and unlike keyboard you can't customize the layout). Once you get the hang of it though, the combat system seems to be more involved than, say, TW2's. I was quite surprised that you can apparently attack any friendly NPC even during conversations. One game ended prematurely as I got stuck in combat with a knight I couldn't even put a dent in. Pretty cool.

Question wrt class choice: I'm leaning towards the knight but his movement speed is unbearably slow. Can I make him run as fast as, say, a thief by pumping the right stats or will he always be a lumbering hulk?

Your starting class only really affects how you play for the first few hours into the game. If you want to run faster, increase your weight limit by raising your endurance.

It's all about your carry weight, and it has 3 levels of speed:
<25% of max carry weight, you're very fast
<50%, average speed
>50% slow fuck.
Leveling up your endurance will improve carry weight, but its a slow process, and there are also itens that improve you carry weight. You better manage your gear/weight to suit your gameplay. Personally, I prefer to unequip a helmet or glove than go over 50%.

Also, remeber that your second set of weapons also counts for trhe weight limited, so don't equip two shields or two swords unless you have a good reason.

How's the performance and what are you playing on?
