I don't hate it, I barely remember it. Most of my memories are about how retarded the cutscenes and dialogue were and how it never ended. How dare you quote steam reviews to me as a barometer of quality when Baldur's Gate 3 has 90%+. How dare you make me think about Days Gone again when I had forgotten about it! It doesn't deserve to take up space in my memory.

Am I not explaining correctly? It's an ubisoft-type game except with more complicated combat. You mindlessly go through lists and kill/collect shit to clear the map out. You pick the loot with the biggest number and equip it. You zone out and daydream while a bunch of historical guys talk too much. These types of games are time wasters and you generally forget about them after about a week. If you like that type of game, such as Days Gone or Ass Creed, this is an above average game for you probably because the combat carries it.

Yeah I knew what you meant. For me, though, what I will remember is the combat and combat encounters/duels. That seems very much worthwhile and will have staying power the way Nioh does.

For those who have played this, is the combat actually good? Worth getting a SlopStation 5 for?

I don't have a PS5 but I figure why not wait for the inevitable DLC and everything to be in a "Complete" edition for PC?

EDIT: Could always play Like a Dragon: Ishin! in the meantime for that 1800s ronin feel, and you actually would play the same character.

Played the demo for a while. The game is very... meh. Average looking, combat less fun than Nioh or Wo Long, bland characters, strange voice acting, mediocre everything. One of those games that don't necessarily do anything very bad, but there just so many better options to pick from. Don't regret not buying this at a full price. Maybe will get it at $20 one day, if there is nothing else to play. Not sure how they were expecting it to sell 5 Million copies.

Combat is supposed to open up more the further you get into the game, to the point where it well-surpasses Wo Long. Game looks fun. From everything I've researched about it, it seems to be a step down from Nioh and a step up from Wo Long, aka a good game. I'd get the complete edition for PC when it comes out for $40-50. If I stopped playing every action RPG that didn't end up being as good as Nioh 2, I'd start running out of action RPGs real quick.

Is wo long's combat really that controversial? I do know that people dont like the morale system.

Never understood the Wo Long hate. Maybe the Morale makes it too easy? It's a fun game though. In any case, happy to hear that Rise of the Ronin is apparently superior to it.

Hate is probably a little bit too strong, it's just much worse compared to Nioh 2, which was disappointing.

I don't agree with Rise of the Ronin being better than Wo Long though. I liked Wo Long enough to finish it completely (outside of the DLC). Rise of the Ronin was so boring that I didn't make it beyond first 3h, having a big free demo available on PS5. Imagine an Open World game done by Ubisoft that had combat outsourced to Team Ninja - and you will be 95% correct in how the game looks like.

Fair, but the combat from Team Ninja is kino enough to carry such a scenario. Especially given the setting.

You got aesthetically-filtered, sorry bro :\
